So Canada is 5th in the team event at the end of the day.

So unless the French and/or Georgian male skaters screw up big, or Gogolov skates his brains out, Canada will likely not move on to the final in the Team Event, right?

To maybe answer my own question, according to the start list for tomorrow, France is going with Aymoz instead of Siao Him Fa, so there's still a chance here. I don't know what happens if there's a tie for 5th, so if anyone would like to enlighten me.

I think people are underestimating how well Gogolev skated at Canadian Nats, he’s not the favourite but he definitely has what it takes

Not a great day 0 for team Canada, but oh well. Better to have a bad day 0 than a bad day during the games themselves.

It's not really about that, it's about ranking. Gogolev cannot finish more than one place behind the French skater. If that skater was France's strong one, that would be a big issue. Now, it's very possible.

I thought I quoted your reply I guess not. Yep the tiebreaker favors France with their 2nd in pairs, what I misinterpreted is when you said Gogolev has to skate his brains out, I thought were under the impression that you thought his chances were unlikely , sorry about that
