For 4 years, France will probably do what Italy is doing now, only 2x harder They're already making significant progress and remembering Paris 2024, they'll be for sure super prepared. In women's biathlon, French women will dominate for many, many years.

Interesting but considering the increase in number of events it is not surprising perhaps.

Can you provide a list of countries which regressed/ performed poorly both in terms of medals & golds won than last Olympics.

 

I can think of  &  on top of my head. Maybe 

With ,  whose chef de mission in an media interaction yesterday accepted the downgrade in results for both summer & winter games & accepts that DOSB needs to do more & make tough decisions.

Personally, I think  should target around 10-13 gold medals in 2030 and strive to reach the top 3 in the medal standings.

Much depends on Germany – on paper, it should still be a 2/3 powers on Winter OG, on par with the USA. The problem for them is their recent decline in biathlon. btw.: was there a lot of talk in China about the fact that China was in 3rd place in the medal table in 2022, but after 2 years the USA took that place, or does no one pay attention to it after all these years?

There were news reports about that incident, but I think most people no longer care. There isn't much difference between third and fourth place, and there won't be more hatred or anything like that just because the United States took its place.

However, the fight for 1st place is probably more important: USA-China in Paris 2024, or Beijing 2008 and first China's victory.

That's for sure. There were opportunities both in Tokyo and Paris. The main thing is that track cyclist Valente staged the same scenario in both Tokyo and Paris, overtaking at the last moment. But I think the United States missed too many gold medal opportunities in Paris and Tokyo, which created some chances for us. In Tokyo's athletics, I think the US didn't meet expectations, and in Paris, their swimming gold medals didn't reach double digits.

 

One day that left the deepest impression on me was the 3rd day of the Tokyo Olympics, July 26th. China had many chances to win gold medals, but on that day, our ace events—weightlifting, table tennis, and diving—all lost. I was really extremely disappointed that day.

 

In the women's volleyball at the Tokyo Olympics, China was still a strong contender for the gold medal, but our form at the Olympics was strange. We didn't make it out of the group stage. In the end, people were saying that if China and the US had played in the final, and that match had decided the top spot in the medal table, it would have been really thrilling.
