Figure Skating ISU Grand Prix 2025 - 2026

Happy for Amber Glenn.. Good win.

Just wondering if Watanabe got all those jumps perfectly what the result would be, nonetheless would want her to repeat the same routine without errors and she might be looking at 235+ combined total

I wish Amber Glenn would look a little less stressed / more joyful when she skates.  But I know she puts a lot of pressure on herself, while Alysa Liu is always having a good time.

:USA with 2 golds and 2 silvers this week.  I updated Post 2 with the results.

  • 2 weeks later...

Canada bagging two golds and a bronze at Skate Canada, and the USA one point away from getting a medal in each event.  Post 2 updated with results.

(Oh, and Ilia Malinin's free skate alone would have beaten two competitors based on their combined score.  Same thing happened in France two weeks ago.  :yikes:)

That was a messy Men's free program...

But I do love the music that Tomono Kazuki :JPN uses for his program.  And Vladimir Litvintsev :AZE has a very unique FP!

Looking forward to seeing how Chock and Bates :USA do against only the top teams...love their routine, but Cizeron and Fournier  :FRA outscored them in the first GP performance.

Wow. What a free program from :USA Andrews, never seen her so clean. Really impressive. And now she could even challenge the U.S. selectors. Are they sure she is ranked above Levito?

People I don't envy: The Japanese selection committee...how are they going to pick only three women?  They have so many great skaters!

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
