Apparently Groenewold suffered from travelling to Utah late, as did one of her teammates, while two others from that team did not. That will not be a factor later on.

Groenewold was sensational at the Dutch Champs/World Cup qualifier, while Daleman was average.

For Daleman to qualify she will have to drastically improve her times, and must hope some of her rivals have peaked too early/crumble under the pressure of the OKT. At the moment, in none of her three distances I would rate her in the top 4 of Dutch riders, let alone top 3. The riders in front of her have all proven this weekend that they’ve world class

The Dutch tv commentator just talked about rumours about Schulting, and according to a newspaper article Schulting is training with the Dutch ST team. No decisions have been made yet: she will probably want to see how the OKT goes.

If we flop in this sport in Milan, like we’re doing here, I’d be surprised if :CAN manages to win more than 6 golds in total…. embarrassing, you’re supposed to peak in time for the Olympics not months before:facepalm:

Full results back on Post 2 updated, including updated medal count.  Canada and Netherlands still top dogs!  Belgium appears in the medal table with their first gold.

Women’s relay disappoints two weeks in a row…

Well Kim Boutin isn’t here, she went back home to recover from an injury that’s been nagging at her since before the season, but even worse it looks like Flo injured her shoulder while falling down… hopefully nothing serious.

:USA Heo gold and :FRA Pigeon bronze in the men’s 500m, stunned :yikes:

Pigeon represents Poland although his name definitely sounds french.

Actually, I think he's originally from Quebec if I remember correctly.

I've been gone this weekend and haven't been able to watch much, but shocked to see Heo :USA on top for the M 500m!

Edit: And ironically, it's the first gold for USA this season, despite how good Stoddard and KSG are for the women.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
