Looks like I'm not exactly going to the Games....but should at least be in California when they are on :champion: so keeping a normal sleep pattern.  These things are important at my age.  :points:

For anyone who was involved with buying tickets for Paris 2024, can anyone comment on how LA28's process seems similar or different?  I'm hoping to get tickets so my family and I can go, and I've already found events we'd like to go to (def. won't be medal matches, as I know those will be out of our price range).

Seems like Paris had some sort of 'package' deal you had to do, but I haven't seen anything like that for LA28.

Also, re: the draw system, was it the case that whenever your time slot became available, you had access to any session?  Or were only certain sessions available?  (And, if so, were different sessions available in a later ticket drop?)

Is it the case that preliminary sessions sell out more quickly than medal sessions?  Or vice-versa?

(To anyone interested in going: AirBnBs are able to be reserved up to two years ahead of time, so starting July-August, you should be able to make reservations.)

We got another update to the ticket buying process.    It was known already that each email would be limited to 12 tickets in the upcoming drops, but we now learn that football is not included in that limit, and we will be able to purchase up to 12 extra tickets for that sport.    As we live halfway between downtown LA and downtown San Diego we will definitely get some seats for the July 11 matches in SD.

But that's assuming we get a slot in this first draw.  Not even that is guaranteed.   We find out sometime between March 31 and April 6.  Draws open up on April 8.

Also the in-house secondary market will not open up until early 2027.

I'm already scared for ticket prices. 5 million ppl signed up for only 14 million tickets (and I think that number is for Olympics and Paralympics)

As long as they are not as outrageous as the FIFA World Cup tickets...

Tomorrow the first people from LA/OKC will be able to purchase tickets.  I suspect Reddit and other places will have screenshots of ticket prices.  (Several people there have already confirmed that they did(n't) get a time slot.)

If waiting is hard, I used this link to log into my account to see if I had a time slot for Drop 1.  (My wife and I both got one...hers starts on the second day, but mine not until the seventh day.)

    • Two gold medals for  Agostina Hein with two new (senior) south american records!   8:22:01 in 800 FR and 2:10:82 in 200 IM.   (she did the IM only 10 minutes after racing the 800)
    • You've always opposed this regime, so what do you think? Did the USA attack strengthen the regime, or was there no chance of its fall anyway? Two million people in Tehran alone protested against the Shah in late 1970 years and now these protests have never been so numerous. What are your thoughts on this?
    • last year (I mean in Iranian calendar which finished couple weeks ago) was terrible, both personally (since I had couple of personal losses) and also because of what happened to the country, two wars against bloodthirsty vampires and on top of that the Dey (January) Massacre.    but the country still stands as a whole which wasn't my prediction. I certainly underestimated our resilience. of course there are lots of wounds to be healed (even if the war stops right now), some of them very deep wounds, mostly non-physical wounds. we have to wait for the dust to settle to see how the regime will do domestically moving forward, not really optimistic about that though
    • Overall, I fear that if AFD + FPO were to come to power in GER/AUT, Italy could lose South Tyrol- maybe not now, but in the future- yes. There will certainly be problems in that region and Meloni, unfortunately, is like a child- she's not a politician for difficult times.
    • It's more a double edged sword for me. I'm happy that Turkey's strategy of naturalizing athletes to win medals isn't working, but at the same time Ofili and the Jamaican field athletes did it because they weren't being treated right by their federations. Now they have to go back to the same federations that fucked them over to compete in LA.    I'd much rather this have happened than it gone through, however
    • We're chatting here and chatting and in the meantime, AFD will soon have 30% in Ger, just like FPO has over 30% in Austria...It is also unknown what will happen to Le Pen in Fra.
    • I know there will be other slots where more tickets will be released. Hoping for more affordable tickets in future slots
    • Good. International sport should never be about purchasing athletes to represent your nation. Invest in your domestic talent!
    • Tomorrow is a match for the future of Italian women's hockey. Without promotion to the Elite, our best Canadians will likely retire from our NT and we will be at the current level of China, etc. Promotion to the Elite League will extend the current project by the another 1 year. It's 100% certain that, for example, Fortino won't be playing in the Division 1- Group A again in a next year.
    • Isn't there a danger that the Bulgarians will get tired of this chaos and give all the power to Radev, just like the Huns were furious and the Magyar took all the power?
