Paralympic Sports Qualification to Winter Paralympic Games Milano-Cortina 2026

Recommended Posts

So far, :ITA:CHN:USA:KOR:LAT have secured wheelchair mixed doubles quotas through my rough calculations.

United States, China, and Latvia finished 9th, 10th, and 11th, but cannot be overtaken by seven other countries as Estonia/Japan who are tied for 7th can only at best finish with 23 and 21 points (if they both make the final), same for South Korea, who are in the quarterfinals as the #1 seed are guaranteed a minimum of 28 points.

24 F 10th :CHN F 9th :USA

22 F 11th :LAT

20 :KOR (QF, guaranteed 28)

14 :SVK (QF, guaranteed 19)

10 :CAN (QF, guaranteed 17, because of #3 seed)

9 :EST:JPN (QF, guaranteed 14)

8 :GBR (QF guaranteed 13)

QF pairings:

:KOR:SVK

:NOR:EST

:CAN:JPN

:GBR:CZE

16 different possible outcomes, BI= still in competition.

I'm gonna be editing this across the next 40 or so minutes, might've made some mistakes.

:CAN will not qualify for the Paralympics  (I really hope I did the calculations wrong)

91 to 77 votes.

It means russian flag and anthem at the Paralympics 2026.

Ukrainian minister of sports: "Today it became known that a former member of the European Parliament from Great Britain received bribes for supporting Russia's positions."

We can expect boycott of the Paralympic Games by Ukraine.

Righ now it also means boycott from some other countries (Latvia at least) according to the rstrctions imposed by the fovernments on participation in the events where russians and belorussians compete with their national symbols.

What`s about Poland? They have changed a lot over the past 3 years: from very pro-Ukraine to a fairly quite neutral country, from what I can see from the public mood there. Italy, of course, has always been quite pro-Russia, unfortunately.

Not surprised, we'd probably get a similar vote from IOC members.

They might hold off to see what happens in 2026 in terms of boycotts, but at this rate I expect them to fully return by LA28.

    • I used to think Johnston(e) - from some place John build (aka stone for building something hehe).   I'm not familiar if Scottish or Irish clans are named after such clan founder or a place?
    • i'm triggered,legitimately thought kennedy 2.0 happened,just way more out of nowhere
    • Perfectly obvious.    Johnson = son of John Johnston or Johnstone = From St John's Town ie Perth in Scotland.
    • Nope. Azu missed out by 0.01. Bromell lost silver by 0.001!
