the kick start of the UIPM season is today with first World Cup in :EGY

the first season with Obstacles and no more Equestrian competition, therefore a lot of familiar names are not participating.

The familiar names in women competition are:

:EGY Malak Ismail & the 14 yrs old Farida Khalil

:HUN Michelle Gulyas,  Blanka Guzi, Rita Erdos & Blanka Bauer

:FRA Rebecca Castaudi

:AIN Mariya Gnedtchik

most of the remaining names are U 19 or just participating in major tournaments for the first time.

some main countries are not participating (in women competition) in this run such as :GBR:MEX:SUI:KOR:CHN:CZE:POL:GER

Hopefully this would be a good start of the season for MP fans.

On one hand yay the old german fossil is finally no longer president, and Rob Stull.....is an interesting pick to be the new federation head but just by his current age i'm gonna assume he's not gonna be there 30 plus years so,i guess it's fine.

on the other hand,oh boy this new obstacle concept is already flopping,Elzbieta adomaitytė didn't score any points from it.....and made the semis anyways...the least they could of done is do what they did with riding the whole time where it wasn't in the qualfication and semifinal rounds,Elzbieta[no offense to her at all, she's young, she can get to the elite level] isn't  among the bestwomen in the sport,if she can manage to fail this part and advance, then i can assure  you plenty of top names[the older athletes] will be able to do the same[some might even do it intentionally] 'm still mad this was there idea of an alternative, they could of inserted long jump and it would of done the trick instead of this childish waste of time.

elžbieta is really gonna have to work on her shooting, because it's really rough.Paulius definetly has a lot of potential, the obstacle course thing is clearly something he's talented at and he's great at the combined event, just needs to work on improving his fencing and Lithuania will one again have a strong male athlete in  modern pentathlon.

few observations on the first major tournament:

  • live score board (on screen) needs some improvements such as:
  1. the fencing piste colours are consistently wrong between the scoreboard and real game (the red and green colours)
  2. shooting screen in combined phase is very bad, time is stuck or continue even when the player finished, also the green (good shot dots) are not always working
  3. at the beginning I didn't like the score board on the left hand side but later I got used to it which is not bad in my opinion now.
  4. showing the the round in fencing will be beneficial to understand is it QF, R 16 ..etc and expect the score accordingly
  5. the fencing screen in the left hand side is confusing  (location of the score compared to name is not very clear) and it's more confusing when you notice that the colour is wrongly switched (see first point)
  • Obstacles is fun to watch (I wasn't expecting that) and young athletes are taking it to very high leve,. also surprised with some good actions from experienced athletes such as Belaud, Shabaan & Gulyas.

  • Equestrian was not fair but more thrilling, here Obstacles is more fair and not boring. Personally, I liked Equestrian more but I can understand why obstacles is more favourable for some others.

  • new scoring of fencing is better, even difference in points was adjusted to become more close to swimming weight (main deciders now are obstacles and combined).

  • waiting Fencing World Ranking list to know how does it work and how they calculate this new ranking.
