Volleyball Discussion | Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Road to LA 2028

It's complicated because after an Olympic year, we have a lot of teams changes. Naturally, this can lead to lower-level tournaments than we'll see in 2027.

In the women's competition, Brazil, China, the USA, Serbia, and Japan had a lot of changes to their teams. Probably only Italy, Turkey, and Poland remained unchanged.

The men's competition also saw Poland, Brazil, Japan, the USA, and Slovenia try out many new players.

If it stayed every 4 years then it would be in the middle of olympic cycle. 2026, 2030 etc

Do you remember the 2017 World League final? That they hosted the competition in a soccer stadium? Maybe we could see a volleyball match at the Maracanã again.

I should do anything to go.

it was the world championship and it was only the opening match

ice hockey and handball also have done that a couple of times in the past, but no organizer would take the risk to schedule a match in a big stadium without knowing who's going to play, specifically without the host team involved

risk/reward ratio is too unfavourable, even in a Country that's the cradle of the sport

Another point I would like to raise:

Do you agree with the world championship being held every 2 years? Isn't loosing its prestige in such case?

There is also nations league, so too many world competitions

yeah, Team Olympic sports should keep the 4-year span format, staying in the middle of an Olympic cycle

it would increase the hype for sure

The tickets for next years Men's Euro (at least the matches here in :BUL ) went on sale today. Rather expensive for the usual standards here i might add. But it was expected after the big success our NT had at the Worlds. Got tickets for our matches with :POR:UKR and :ISR  and the two 1/4. Too bad they scheduled the match with Poland last, as it's in the worst day to attend.

In 2002 World Champ. was in Argentina.

After that WCh our federation (FAV) was banned because of some dispute with corrupt president Acosta, went bankrupt and we had to found a new one (FEVA).

Safe to say we will never host again.

Also there's just not much commercial interest in this sport as it used to be. Proof of that is our league... it used to have some global stars, now it's a semi-professional joke.

There are only 2 months left, so it will be hard :( But Mattarella - the president of Italy is a big volleyball fan, so maybe somehow it will work very speed?

Getting closer and closer to due: Michieletto- Keita in Italian NT team:clap:It will be a nuclear bomb:d

Yeah, Micheletto will probably win, but I think Giannelli deserved it more.

    • Progressive Bulgaria- the name is misleading and someone from abroad might think it's some kind of modern social democracy party(various sources classify them as SD). Personally, if I were Bulgarian, I would give the PP an outright majority and simply evaluate them after 4 years- if they rule good I then another 4 years por them; if not- goodbye. Better that than chaos or another years with GERB or Radev's post-communists.
