Also a new Canadian NR, beating a 46 year old record (and I believe oldest Olympic event NR)

a lot of guys hit seasons  or personal best to i'm sure none of ya'lls surprise,Claudio romero :CHI 66.42 up from 64.09 for a seaons best, french guy[he did it by over two meters, meanwhile his teamate fouled out],Nick, mannucci all seasons best,Enrico Sacammono with  a new pb of 63.30,Steven richter looked dreadful with four  fouls out of five throws but bombed his last one to a seasons best of 64.47 and fourth place n the comp.Diego casas with an almost meter pr of 65.54 for third, nice little prewiew from some of these guys for the big comp, but i'm waiting for the real big dog to show up ;)

NOOOOOOOOO,YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME,DENNY HIT HIS 72 THROW WITH ''PARTY IN THE USA '' PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND  BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE,I'M DEADDDDDDDDDD

In the last few days, two great results for South American athletics, both with the second best marks in the history of South America

Evelis Aguilar from :COL clocked 49.80 in the 400 metres, a mark very close to the continental record held by Olympic medalist and fellow Colombian Ximena Restrepo with 49.64

Manuela Rotundo from :URU , just 20 years old, scored an impressive 64.17 in the javelin throw at a university competition in the USA. This mark would have earned her a silver medal at Paris-2024 (she did not participate).

Uruguay has not won an Olympic medal since Sydney-2000 and the young Rotundo, a world junior medalist, seems like a good name to keep an eye on in the cycle.

Back to normal athletics with a Continental Tour Gold meet from Gabarone :BOT on Saturday!  Always good to see big meets in Africa.

    • Also a first: never before has a Dutch pair participated in the games, according to media rapports.
    • The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.
