We'll know by the end of the season.  If he never does anything like it again....

But everyone knows the TJ & LJ runaway was basically build as a springboard here, well above the usual level compared to the track or the indoor arena. So it will be very hard to repeat that kind of result almost by default. Same way for these discus results from US college stadiums that don't have a fixed bleachers so the wind can swirl around at will and help to carry the discus.

well, if it's the same of the World Ranking, they have a really complicated calculation system and a full scale of values from Ranking Score to Performance Score (which is Result Score + Placing Score), taking into consideration not only the time (or measure), but also the final placing in the competition and the category of the meet where the result is achieved

hope they don't have to go down to this tiebreaker, because it could mean a big headache for many people

Well, step 1 is of course the time, but the time is equal, so that's the issue. If one of the 38,30's was a 38,29 or 38,31 there would not be any issue at all :p

not a fan of this tiebreaker, I'd rather take the headache of the individual WRL

Not sure. I think I prefer a clear-cut rule like "who sets it first, is first", like in many sports (take F1, for example, where recently Russell and Verstappen tied for the fastest time, but Russell set it first, so he got the pole position). Otherwise it's going to be that massive mess of figuring out which races are 'smart' to do and so on, that's already bad enough with the FIS points system in the winter :p

Another scam in Rome? Ask Giovanni Evangelisti and Sandro Donati how to do it...

Hard to say, strange thing is that all the metrics haven't been seen on TV during this jump

actually, it was Primo Nebiolo as president of both the former IAAF and the Italian Federation at the same time who organized that cheat

Evangelisti was the victim, he only did his job (jumping)

and Donati is always been the victim of the most corrupted part of our officials...they tried to ruin him with Di Terlizzi's scandal in the late Eighties (but unfortunately the policemen found out the plot against him) and finally they could do it with the Schwazer infamous plot (and they needed the help of the FSB and many corrupted World Athletics officials to be able to finalized that)

p.s. no scam this time, Diaz Fortun truly jumped longer than Pichardo (and he also had a 17.96m jump, close to the Portuguese's measure)

Pichardo is just a greedy and envious man...looking forward to Paris, when he might get 4th or 5th with a jump just over 18m  :bones:

Pichardo is justy salty and embarassing...I heard from interviews of another jumper that the Cubans are always arguing at every competition. There's highlights on Youtube and looking at the white board and the structure behind it, it's quite clear that Diaz Fortun's jump was longer than Pichardo's 18,04.

And saying that the measurement is a scam because Diaz Fortun celebrated early is truly next level...he celebrated for other attempts too, it's not too difficult to understand when a jump is good.
