Four WRs in the women's team sprint in one session. The Beeb have Laura Kenny in the studio and before competition began she said this was a very fast velodrome because its shape causes the air movement created by the cyclists to remain down at track level aiding the riders.

I think a bigger factor in this specific case might be that last Olympics the women's team sprint was still done with two riders..

That's a good point. There's also a little more strength in depth at the top level. You can't get away with having a weaker rider in your team any more if you want to win medals.

Significantly more than expected compared to Australia at least :d 

 

Seems like they're on their way back to top shape after a relatively vulnerable time recently.
