they were seen as outsiders,although them finishing ahead of America is very cool and is a nice surprise.

Yes, it is.

On the other side, Serbia was huge favorite for gold, now on verge of not entering 1/2f. 

I liked Polish style more than Serbian. 

Anyhow, only Latvia's gold is a certain.

And Serbia is now gone.Also no it's not certain,France only lost to them by two points in the group stage and is honestly doing way better in this whole thing than i expected,even though i suspect there is some ref bias for them.

also funny thing,the other 3 teams left in the tournament are all those that we have lost to.

How big this French victory is - this was their FIRST victory ever against Serbia.
