I kind of agree with @Cinnamon Bun - The GB shooting squad was actually one of the bright spots for Team GB last year as we banked quotas early, but they simply weren't able to build on that success through late 2023 and into 2024. Bargeron has been the lone bright spot in an otherwise bleak season for the team when it matters the most.

Llewelin is the most frustrating miss of the squad. He is one of the highest ranked athletes in his event, but never really came close to winning a quota at the qualifying events - perhaps his best chance came in 2022 Euros when he finished 3rd. He's been able to clock up decent results at World Cup events which is great but when it really mattered, he was more likely to miss the final. He's not the only British athlete who has been in this position - it's pretty ridiculous that Matthew Coward-Holley only just scraped in through the ranking.

To quote from musical theatre "it's not where you start, it's where you finish..."

Still to see confirmation of the GB Shooting team.  Couple of questions. Does the quota in the Men's 50m 3 Pos pretty much give us another place in the 10 Air Rifle as well?

Then secondly, especially if the answer to Q1 is "Yes", could they give the quota that Bargeron gained to Dean Bale???  Given McIntosh's superb form right now, and the fact that she seems to do well in the Mixed Team with Bale, would that not point his way?

And as a follow up, does Bargeron even qualify for the 10m?  He has got QROG points, but I think he has only competed at 10m once (World Champs 2023), and cannot find a second qualifying championship in his CV.  However, the finer details are a bit beyond me.  Anyone else know more about this?

Bargeron will be eligible to compete in both the 10m and 3x50m (as McIntosh is on the women's side) - but GB wouldn't be able to nominate both Bale and Bargeron as we only secured 1 athlete quota.

And you are sure he qualifies for 10m?  Agreed we only get one quota - but I would argue give it to Bale, not Bargeron.

I thought it was a nominative quota?

Diving did. Ross Haslam, Daniel Goodfellow and Eden Cheng all won quotas they didn't get. In modern Pentathlon it looks increasingly likely Olivia Green will no ge the quota she won.

Correct. Olivia Green looks like she has fallen down the pecking order (behind French, Bryson and Varley, possibly Whitaker too)
