Do we know if Keely is done with the 400 relay? I assume so for this season at least. Thinking about it some more,  I'll be surprised to see her at Trials. If she goes, you're right, she's unlikely to push the pace.

I'm not forgetting that PG is 17; it's a huge part of the point:) What I'll say next will sound a bit contradictory but I don't have expectations of her but it is fun to speculate (I get that that is a kind of an expectation). My comments here are a drop in the ocean of expectations compared to the impact of things on twitter  Instagram and the article on BBC sport.

Whether she can replicate yesterday this season or ever (I remember Charlotte Moore and others), PG has made herself a live and very interesting part of the conversation and it's fair to discuss that. Isn't it? The other thing PG has done over the last year (two actually, but results of 15 year olds need to be taken with 10 times as much salt even compared with those of 17 year olds) is pretty much always run with the same intent as yesterday. The time yesterday was extraordinary but not exactly out of the blue. We'd all seen her results and, here's that word, 'expected' 1.59 this season.

If she decides to run U20 (U18 would be a bit pointless given her ability) then fair play. I'll watch with interest. For what it's worth, I don't think she will, otherwise why run in Belfast?

I don't think Keely would get in our relay squad without a substantial drop anyway and you would think she's probably more focused on her main event this summer. I'd be surprised if we didn't see her at trials though, she's always seemed a "racer". And it's not far from Leigh to Manchester. :d

My comment about Phoebe wasn't specifically directed at you, it was just a general thing that I always worry about young athletes that make this kind of breakthrough.

Obviously we (and the rest of British sport by the headlines etc) are all super excited about her. I just hope that she's got a good group around her. Similar to Blocksidge in the pool - obvious talent but giving them time to develop without pressure will hopefully bring long term rewards for both them as an athlete and us as fans. If that is Paris, great. If it is Rome or Lima, also great.

A sub 1m 58 clocking at 17 and essentially without a pacemaker (ok 300m of pace setting) is startling. Fingers crossed she can develop in her own time with a good team around her. Trials is going to be incredibly stressful for her but I'm very keen to see how she does. Clearly talented!

So not sure whether to post this or not as can't verify it yet but will put it here anyhow and if I need to correct it later I will.

Apparently both Holly Mills and Abigail Pawlett are due to take part in the Hypo Gotzis Heptathlon next weekend and Jack Turner is due to compete in the Decathlon.

So, the Hypo Gotzis start lists have been confirmed. Jodie Smith joins Mills and Pawlett on the start lists - perhaps surprising given Smith competed at the weekend in :ESP

Jack Turner is not competing. If he wants to get the standard for Paris, it looks like he will try to do it at one of the US College meets.

Turner had the SEC Champs last weekend so probably not that surprising that he is missing here. I'd say that he had the Euros as well but I can't imagine he will go there, given that they are the same week as the NCAA Champs. I'm assuming that he'll be at the NCAA finals that is, although we don't officially find out until Thursday.

Looks like Holly Bradshaw may have withdrawn from the Golden Roof Competition in Innsbruck this weekend - she's showing as "unfortunately injured" on the athlete profile now. Can't see any second source confirmation though

We're beginning to ramp up the European track and field season with meets now taking place every couple of days. We've seen most of our potential Olympians opening their seasons and the rest are likely to follow in short order. With that being said, it's perhaps worth taking stock of where we are in terms of athletes qualifying for Paris.

A while back I shared the list of athletes I thought that our squad would be drawn from. Since then, a few of our junior athletes have had some impressive performances and have put themselves into the mix when it comes to selection. On the flip side, we've also had a couple of confirmed injuries with Tom Gale and Jaz Sawyers now out of contention.

I've also added an additional data set - when the athletes are next due to compete. This won't be 100% complete as some events are slow in releasing their start lists and we've seen instances where athletes have dropped out late. For some events, I haven't been able to source the required data.

As always, any suggestions or corrections welcomed.

    • Well, I see that the national competition between mixed doubles and also men increased. Also actually amongst women, too. Before it was mostly Kubeskova team that participated in some international events. This year, Synackova team did really well in the pre-qualification just the final qualification was not that good. But curling is about details. Generally, I am glad to see that there is really much higher competition than it was 10 years ago. And seeing Chabickovsky a Zelingerova making it to the Olympics in such a young age can be really promising for their career as curling is becoming more professional, as we see Grand Slams and other big tournaments.    As for now, I think that in Milano Team Klima and mixed doubles can make really interesting results. After all, they will finish in top 10 so just qualifying to the Games is already a huge achievement
