Is it possible GB contend for medals in Paris in both the technical and free duet artistic swimming?

No - but that's primarily because they aren't separate events in the Olympics.

Am I right to say they would have won silver in the Olympics if things had been in the same format?

The duet field in Doha wasn't as strong as it will be in Paris - there were no Austrians, Japanese or Americans so it's difficult to read too much into it. That being said, I'd say that they should very much be in the mix for the minor medals.

My mistake - Paris official site lists events, not medal events.

As a sport I will admit knowing very little about, are no team capable of challenging the Chinese in Paris in the duet similar to most of the diving events?

I don't find it very viewer friendly and I rely on the commentators to make sense of what is going on.

If we look at last year's WC results, :CHN scored 504.6579 across the 2 events. :JPN scored 523.4667 and :AUT scored combined 495.97. As the teams have gotten more comfortable with the new points code the teams seem to be scoring better - :CHN scored combined 516.8213 this year.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
