That is insanely good news! Move over Kennys we have a new power couple

That's utter madness. GB suddenly have 2 and 3 of the top sprinters alive, the dutch have 1 and 4...

Penny for the thoughts of cycling australia - actually don't need a penny, I've read them already, super giant huff!

Squad announced for next week's MTB World Championships:

Men's Elite:

Tom Pidcock

Charlie Aldridge

Cameron Orr

Men's Under 23:

Joseph Blackmore

Max Greensill

Elite Women:

Evie Richards

Annie Last

Isla Short

Women's Under-23:

Ella Maclean-Howell

With an eye towards Los Angeles, it will be interesting to see what Alridge and the under-23 guys can achieve. For the women the bench seems a little bit thinner - all three of our elite riders are over 27 so whilst not impossible that Richards or Short could still be competing in 2028, we're probably going to be relying on Maclean-Howell to secure GB spot in LA and even then, we may need her to move into the elite rank at the start of the 2026 season.

It's always hard to tell, but to be honest, I don't think that's a bad squad looking forward, esp Aldridge - I do also wonder if this indicates something re Pidcock. He's not happy at Ineos, the Hayters have both left, Iget the feeling the sponsors interest has wained, the original principal's interest too and the team is in the doldrums - in addition, their raison d'etre is not only stimied by the superstar generation, but in a sense is now not needed, there's TONNEs of brit riders in the pro peloton now.

I don't think Pidcock has it to be a GC rider - he's a great classics guy, but he loves MTB - I wonder if there's a team outside INEOS will offer him both, maybe with a bit CycloX, but broadly not bother with the GTs and stage racing, and try and get Sponsor value from his dualism,,

2024 Junior Track Cycling World Champs get underway in :CHN tomorrow.

:GBR squad playing to their endurance strengths but the sprint side looks disappointing.

Men's Endurance:

Sam Fisher

Henry Hobbs

William Salter

Fin Tarling

The squad took bronze in the men's team pursuit at the European champs last month behind Italy and Germany. Salter would also take Gold in the men's omnium with Fisher taking bronze in the points race.

Women's Endurance:

Erin Boothman

Cat Ferguson

Carys Lloyd

Imogen Wolff

This team took Silver in the women's team pursuit at the Europeans behind Germany. Carys Lloyd went on to take Gold in the Omnium before teaming up with Ferguson to take Gold in the Madison. Erin Boothman also took Bronze in the Elimination Race.

Men's Sprint:

Oliver Pettifer - Pettifer reached the quarter-finals at last month's European Champs and won Gold in the Keirin. Surprising there's no room on the team for Archie Gill or Adam Murray though.

Women's Sprint:

Georgette Rand - Rand topped qualifying at the Europeans and went on to win Gold in the individual sprint before going on to do the double with Gold in the Keirin. (She actually completed treble by adding 500m time trial) It would have been good to see Sarah Johnson also on the team - she reached the quarter-finals of the individual sprint before finishing 7th in the Keirin.

Things going well in the Tour de l'Avenir.  :GBR Joe Blackmore won Stage 4, got into Yellow.  Lost Yellow on Stage 5, but got it back today by a big margin. Final stage tomorrow - big climbs, no race radio & teams not really strong enough to dictate tactics, so worth watching.

Turned out to be more drama than anyone would like, but held on for the win!
