Three Pakistan hockey players and a physiotherapist have been banned for life after attempting to seek asylum in Europe during the Nations Cup in the Netherlands and Poland last month.

 

The players—Murtaza Yaqoob, Ihtesham Aslam, and Abdur Rahman — along with physiotherapist Waqas slipped away without the knowledge of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

The Women's Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament will be held in Rajgir, Bihar from November 11-20.

 

This year's event, organized by Hockey India and the Bihar government, will take place at the newly-developed Rajgir Hockey Stadium.

Defending champions India, along with teams from China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand, are expected to compete.

The international hockey federation’s (FIH) goal is to switch to waterless playing turfs, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, but it would not be possible to do that at the next Olympics, Los Angeles 2028.
