Katie Boulter might be the most popular Brit in Hong Kong since 1997 judging by the crowd support. And she's into the 250 final there.

It was a great atmosphere for the match - particularly when  Yuan managed to up her level in the second set. 

 

The crowd favourite all week has been  Fernandez so I was a bit surprised that so many of the crowd didn't come back after the first match - although they could have just been stuck in the queue for the bar. 

 

Should be a good final tomorrow.

Rebecca Sramkova has made another WTA 250 final in China. However Marie Bouzkova completely flopped in the other SF so no Czechoslovakian derby in the final @hckošice

Already her 3rd final this fall

 

Secured 43th WTA ranking. Never been in top 100 in her life until this September

These Asian 250 (former International or Tier III and IV back in the old days) are back and they are the easiest way to rack up points and mount a jump in the standings. They used to be held in around the spring but with the Doha & Dubai expansion they've been moved to the tail end of the season after the COVID limit was lifted.

As far as 250s go, they’re definitely weaker than during the beginning of the season, but the Hong Kong field has Shnaider, Boulter, Fernandez, and Kenin, I would say that’s decent…

Hong Kong was also meant to have Osaka and Raducanu. Both pulled out, but Osaka still showed up to do some fan events.
