 tried an amazing comeback in the second stint, but when their best batsmen did fall one after another (Iftikhar the last one, who almost put  back in line for a miracle), any hope was gone and now  are really in trouble, if they want to stay in the medal race they really need to win against teams like  and  (other than all the "smaller" teams)

I think you are looking at a massive win for South Africa right now. They've scored 399 in their inning and England is struggling 145/8 after 20.3 overs. It is a matter of time until they are bowled out.

in game #20, instead,  destroyed  by 229 runs

 

under very, very difficult weather conditions (hot and humid beyond imagination), the South Africans put on the most impressive show of the CWC so far, scoring 399/7 in 50 overs (thanks above all to the heroic performance by Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 109 runs from 67 balls despite at a certain point he was completely done because of the weather and also an ankle injury)

 

 never looked in contention and in the 2nd inning they only scored 170 runs, going all out in just 22 overs

 

now the reigning world champions are basically out of the race for the top 4 places and the semifinals; only a miraculous and improbable renaissance in the next games (they need to win them all to get back in the race) would give them a chance
