:POL wins women's 4x3,3 km relay! :yikes:

The job done by Alexander Veretelny & Justyna Kowalczyk sure comes to the fore. Marcisz won three individual medals so far.

It's sad that there are reports Veretelny might actually retire at the end of the season. He has said before he's basically retired for 7 years already :coffee:  If he goes, so will Kowalczyk and our senior cross country will go down the gutter again. We haven't done anything to cash in on Kowalczyk's success period anyway. It's basically this one coach who brought her to all these results and now she's doing the coaching for the youngsters. We're complete amateurs compared to Norway & co.

Yep, apparently the German went the wrong route on the last leg and Marcisz simply followed her by default even though she knew there was a new loop for the relay. Epic brain freeze that makes Stadlober look good

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks COVID-19, finally managed to catch up by avoiding all spoilers and just watching all the races :d

That women's relay was weird indeed. Lozza of Switzerland was definitely ahead at the exchange, but 900 meters later the German and Polish girls were half a minute in front of her and she definitely didn't lose an unusually large amount of time after that. "She must have fallen, I guess". But no, the two leaders went into the classic loop instead of the skating loop and Lozza went the right way :d

That relay really had it all. From failing Norwegian wax (poor girl could almost literally not even get up a climb anymore because her skis simply slipped back) to this.

Some show by the US men as well :yikes:

    • sure! in every Italian bedroom you normally have every kind of table, chairs, furniture, tv screen  to me, this really look an unfinished room, you normally don't see such a sad place even when you buy a new house
    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
