Entries for Les Etoiles de Pau.

More combinations than usual. Not unexpected, since all other 5* events got cancelled this year (Kentucky, Badminton, Luhmuhlen, Burghley, Fair Hill, Adelaide). Excellent to see Aistis Vitkauskas entered for a long-awaited 5* return.

Sad times. Two Danish Olympic horses passed away within just a couple of days - Digby (2008-2012) and JoJo (2016).

FEI is about to make yet another populist decision and impose a blanket ban for top hats in dressage. Helmets will become compulsory.

 

Many top riders are strongly opposing this decision. Pretty much all big names in fact (expect certain someone, who apparently is anti-choice...).

 

And all this due to a couple of accidents that occured in training (and never in an actual competition!) Additionally, vaulters and reiners are not required to wear helmets, even though their disciplines are arguably much more dangerous.

 

Obviously this decision has nothing to do with safety...

Wow. I mean, if one thinks dressage is more dangerous than reining, one really ought to reconsider whether they might be doing something wrong in their dressage..
