Davidova losing time on the last loop... this was some run by Wierer.

Not often someone outskis Herrman.

Herrmann didn't look too good today on the skis, could have been a waxing problem for Germany or just not at her peak right now. Roeiseland on the other hand looked like she is going to be very dangeous if she can keep this pace up.

Then again, of those who did so today (Røiseland, Mironova, Wierer and Davidova) only Davidova is sort of surprising. It's still a 5th course time for Herrmann :p

Very disappointing day for the US racers.  Wierer is flying on her shooting so far this season.

Fourcade missed two, and it he did not, even one less and he would have been at the top.  Good to see Dale ski so well.

So at the other end, Apostolos Angelis of Greece has not started either race, Sjusjoen or Oestersund.  Any idea why?  It is not too often that he gets a chance to be on the World Cup.

One last thing, the Lithuanian uniforms look good.

Were you aware the World Cup started last week? :p

Looking forward to the Individual today.  There is something special about this event.  A direct tie to the original biathlon races, there is something about a 1 min penalty.

A few interesting racers from the start line.

J Burkhalter raced last week on the IBU Cup for Switzerland.

J Dale has a very late start time.

A Cisar makes his WC debut today.

Smaller biathlon nations who will be represented -  Greece, Croatia, Belgium, Latvia.

Also, Fourcade won the first individual race last season, one of only two wins for him in the season.

When I started watching 20 years ago, almost every weekend was Individual + Sprint + Relay.

    • Shades of 1998 with  and  in the same group but this time it's really a terrible draw for the Thistles. I recall Brazil and Scotland played in the same group in 1974 and 1990 too so that's quite a high probabiliy rate.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
