Women's Final - Horse Selection

1)   :ITA Alessandra Frezza (Ineligible) - Tonka: As above, not a great selection

2)   :GER Rebecca Langrehr - Nikki: Had 1 refusal and a refusal with knockdown in test but twice jumped clear at Brit Champs las year so could be OK.

3)   :GBR Kerenza Bryson - Arthur: As above, potentially one of the best horses in the field.

4)   :ITA Elena Micheli (Quota) - Rupert: As above, not a bad draw with good chance of clear round.

5)   :MEX Mariana Arceo - Layla: As above, quick but made a couple of mistakes. Could be decent round.

6)   :GBR Olivia Green (Quota) - Oscar: As above, a good draw.

7)   :LTU Laura Asadauskaite (Quota) - Harley: 3 fences down in the jumping test and was eliminated at the 2022 BC so probably not a great draw.

8)   :HUN Michelle Gulyas (Quota) - Hugs: Potentially one of the best horses in the field with good pace and just 1 pole down in jumping test.

9)   :GBR Jess Varley - Charm: Potentially one of the best horses in the field having jumped clear in the test in the fasted time. Good chance of clear round.

10) :CHN Zhang Mingyu - Jimmy: As above, likely to be regarded as a good draw with just 1 down in the jumping test.

11)  :KOR Kim Sunwoo - Splash: Was a horror show in the jumping test with 5 poles down and am surprised they made the cut. Could definitely be tricky round.

12)  :POL Anna Maliszewska - Roland: As above, 2 fences down at the end of the test suggests there are better horses in the field.

13)  :TUR Ilke Ozyuksel - Cruise: As above, not a bad draw with just 1 pole down in the jumping test.

14)  :EGY Salma Abdelmaksoud - Freddie: Surprised he made the cut after 6 fences down in the test. Potentially going to be difficult round.

15)  :GBR Emma Whitaker - Derwin: As above, was clear and steady paced in the test so can be regarded as decent draw.

16)  :ESP Laura Heredia (Quota) - Prince: Was clear and fast in the jumping test, so can be regarded as a very good draw.

17)  :ITA Alice Sotero (Quota) - Miller: As above, single fence down so should be able to produce good round.

18)  :HUN Blanka Bauer - Jack: As above, single fence down in the test so decent prospect for good round.

    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
    • On the Olympics I don't like to count golds to analyse the performance, I think the best data are the top8 and medals. In both fields I expect a big improvement (obviously not on the 'pure' number, but on the percentage of medal or top8 events)
