Maybe GOAT of the slow ass surfaces. Peak Becker or Sampras would wipe the court with him if the faster surfaces returned to the tour.

Last time i heard, peak Becker was wiping floors in some other place :p :d

What can i say, another brilliant performance and will to win from Novak. They robbed him of the title last year with the political shenanigans, but it just fueled him even more and the emotions showed that. I have seen this over the years, people trying to peg him down, but it just adds more fire in him to  prove them wrong and what has made him so successful.

I've been a die hard Federer fan for 17 years, but there is truth in Stefanos's words after the final - Djokovic is the greatest player of this sport. Federer had the chance to be this guy, but he missed so many direct matches with Djokovic, which he should have won. I can't count the times i was so angry and had sleepless nights after many painful loses. But in the last 2-3 years, i have put it behind me and accepted, that Federer had a rival, who pushed him to the limit and beyond and learned to respect that. Novak will break the majority of his records and frankly i'm ok with that. Hope he gets to 25 and plays a few more years.

It's crazy what a mental sport tennis is. I'm certain it's all resilience and self-believe, the technical differences are minimal between all those that are inside the top 100.

A 35 year old has no business beating these kids yet still does again and again. The previous generation simply had such a mental edge compared to this Instagram/tiktok focused generation with short attention span.

I think it's more that the Big 3 was so far ahead of everyone. Between the 2005 French Open and 2012 Wimbledon only one person outside of the Big 3 was able to win a Grand Slam. When you have that level of talent competing you have to be at the top of your game both physically and mentally which only pushed them further. Throw in the fact that sport medicine has evolved quite a bit in the last decade and they exude an aura of invincibility and it isn't surprising that the younger players are still getting tossed aside more often than not.

Big 3 are out of this world but Murray and to a degree Wawrinka or Del Potro pushed them much more than the ones that came after.

    • need to work on the celebrations... or just drop them?   Btw, these jerseys suck and I remember Zambia playing in all white with red numbers. At least they have orange on national flag but still...
    • British Columbia in general and Vancouver in particular are awesome and it’s great more people got to discover it thanks to Vancouver 2010.
    • And of course the British being famous for curmudgeons, there were always plenty of curmudgeons to quote.  Then of course from the opening ceremony and the cycle race on the very first morning it was obviously going to be triumph, so everyone just shut up for a while.
    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
    • Nobody hates Britain more than the British media so… I recall it being quite a pessimistic tone before the London games started.
    • I'm curious what was written before London 2012? Did they attack their own country, or did they just keep quiet?
    • Other winners at the PanAm Sports Awards Junior 2025
    • Very true point.  Although I think at this point everyone is just holding their collective breath until the test event.  The NHL isn't going to rage anymore until then because it's not like that would make the arena progress go any quicker
