First 14 players finally entered the Bratislava bubble today

Goalies: Patrik Rybár (Dinamo Minsk), Matej Tomek (Kometa Brno), Defencemen: Šimon Nemec (HK Nitra), Michal Čajkovský (Sibir Novosibirsk), Samuel Kňažko (Seattle Thunderbirds) and  Forwards: Samuel Takáč (HC Slovan Bratislava), Pavol Regenda (HK Dukla Ingema Michalovce), Adrián Holešinský (HK Nitra), Peter Zuzin (HKM Zvolen), Libor Hudáček (Dinamo Minsk), Tomáš Jurčo (Barys Nur-Sultan), Peter Cehlárik (Avangard Omsk), Marek Hrivík (Torpedo Nižnij Novgorod), Juraj Slafkovský (TPS Turku)

will be joined tomorrow by other 7 players

Defencemen: Mário Grman (HPK Hämeenlinna), Martin Gernát (HC Lausanne), Martin Marinčin (HC Oceláři Třinec) and Forwards: Marko Daňo (HC Oceláři Třinec), Miloš Roman (HC Oceláři Třinec), Michal Krištof (Kometa Brno), Kristián Pospíšil (HC Davos)

All after mandatory PCR testing will go into isolation until the result will be known, then they can start the short training camp in Bratislava from tomorrow until Tuesday. The 21 players will then fly Wednesday from Vienna to Istanbul and then from Istanbul to Beijing.

Sadly 4 remaining players whom their Czech clubs refused to release before the 2nd February (when they have to play the last Czech league round before the Olympic break Goalie: Branislav Konrád (HC Olomouc), Defencemen: Marek Ďaloga (Kometa Brno), Peter Čerešňák (HC Plzeň) and Forward: Miloš Kelemen (BK Mladá Boleslav) will enter the Bratislava bubble only the 2nd February late evening, when the other players will be already in the plane to Beijing :wall: so they will have to pass the PCR testing and isolation and only after a couple of days will be able to travel to Beijing...hopefully they will made it in time until the Monday 7th february...

Because yes our federation made a deal with :GER , both teams will play a friendly (test) match somewhere in Beijing Monday 7th february at 12:45 our Time (19:45 Beijing Time) and from Thursday 10th February the tournament will start

Still not confirmed if the 6 alternates will fly to China with the team or will stay in Slovakia isolated and ready to go replace eventual covid positive or injured player, the final decision will be revealed on uesday, the day before the departure.

Peter Cehlárik had positive test in the Bratislava bubble :wall: (obviously our best player...)

All remaining players had two negative tests and were wllowed to start training today, the other 7 players who arrived yesterday had all negative test, but have to wait for the 2nd test to be allowed to train tomorrow

Cehlárik stay in isolation and the team will evaluate his case on daily basis, hopefully he will turn negative and will be able to join he team in Beijing, where the 4 remaining guys from Czech league will arrive the 4th February directly

The team will have another practice session in Bratislava tomorrow (hopefully with the remaining 7 guys) and on Wednesday will travel from Vienna at 19:40 to Istanbul and from there to Beijing.

If Cehlárik (who was elected best forward of last year World Championship in Riga according to the directoriate of the tournament) will have enough negative tests he will fly to Beijing later. The 7th February (3 days before our opening match at the games) we play a test match in Beijing against Germany and it is the deadline when we would like to have the complete team in place

Can somebody explain why NHL players are not present at the Olympics? I read there are NHL matches, but why do the players stay with their clubs instead of the National Team? It is more important, and NHL players could play 1 or 2 matches without the players in Beijing.

They cited the Covid-19 pandemic for backing out.

I can't accept that, as players from Europe or elsewhere are in Beijing

Im sure its a convenient excuse to back out. A lot of players were not happy

Cehlárik had 4th negative test and will fly afternoon solo to Beijing :d

Rosandič was very likely only false positive, the control test in Beijing was negative, he still has to wait for the result of the control re-tes, the result should be know this evening.

The news about yesterday friendly match against Germany were not true,, Our federation confirmed that the match will be played Tomorrow in the Training Arena at 19:30 local time

It will be a 2 period game 2x20 minutes of rough time (without breaks) followed by a 5 minute 3rd period of 3on3 format. The match will be without referess, sjhould be officiated according the agreement by 1 coach assistant of :GER and 1 coach assistant of :SVK team

and Rosandič retesting of the retest was again negative, so he is cleaned by the Chinese authorities and already joind the team in the olympic village. :d

Our most likely Captain Marko Anttila is still in isolation... :wall:

He had COVID like 2 weeks ago, but he needs CT-values to be above 40 for 2 days in a row or above 35 for 3 days in a row. Testing happens every 24 hours.

What's even better? Chief Physician of Olympic Team Finland even said, that there's no medical reasons to keep him isolated anymore... This is very annoying. He's pretty much our best 4th liner & a beast while team is short-handed.

Holy shit, those power rankings are killing me

China's though...

I don't know how to insert images, apparently lol

Slepyshev so far the "star" of the first match :ROC - :SUI  He scored the opening goal 3 seconds before the first pause and in the end of the 2nd frame he again "performed" but this time with an epic unprecedented head-butting  to receive a 2+2 minutes penalties, ROC survived the first one but will start the 3rd period on clean ice another 1min57 shorthended. Huge chance for Switzerland.

SUI is btw leading in goals on shot 22-19

ROC-SUI 1-0 after 40 minutes but everything is still open

    • Update after Matchdays 8 and 9.   Group A:  is almost a lock with 21p, and 7 games 7 wins. Almost impossible for them to not qualify. Coming in third behind is  with 11p. ,  and  eliminated.   Group E: Both  and  won both matches so its still the same, Poland first with 24p and Italy second with 21p, which is the best runner-up and also qualifying directly, so is very likely that both teams end up qualifying no matter who finish first and second. , ,  and  eliminated.   Group F: A tie between  18p and  18p. Germany has the goal advantage (+21 to +20), and has to play the three weaker teams, so its more likely to qualify.
