Even with Katie being better in the turns Summer still beat her and with that time. That girl is really special.

Don't know which events is swimming Ledecky on saturday, but with this form she should focus on the 1500 and try to get a WR.

Stage #2 (:CAN Toronto)

best of day #1

:CAN Summer McIntosh won an amazing W 400m Free race edging out :USA Katie Ledecky in a tight sprint finish (3.52.80 to 3.52.88), swimming also the new JWR (and it would have been also a new senior WR, if only :CHN Li Bingjie didn't go even faster yesterday at the Chinese WC trials).

:RSA Matthew Sates doubled up his success in Berlin in the M 400m Free in 3.37.52 ahead of :USA Kieran Smith and :LTU Danas Rapsys (both over 3.38).

:USA Shane Casas, a true short course specialist, won 2 races: the M 200m Back in 1.48.99 and the M 100m IM in 51.03.

:USA Kelly Pash upset the more experienced :USA Hali Flickinger and :CAN Katerine Savard in the W 200m Fly (2.03.61 for the winner).

:RSA Chad Le Clos won the M 100m Fly with an excellent 48.88 over :AUS Matthew Temple and :USA Trenton Julian (both at 49.x).

:USA Lilly King beat :CAN Sydney Pickrem in the W 200m Breast (2.18.43 to 2.19.71, they were the only 2 swimmers below the 2.20 mark).

:POL Katarzyna Wasick dominated the W 50m Free with the new NR of 23.27 ahead of :CAN Maggie McNeil and :AUS Madison Wilson (both still in the 23's).

You forgot to mention the Canadian sweep in the women's 50 back. ;)

as I wrote, it's not a full recap, it's just the "best of day 1"...:p

and jokes aside, that wasn't one of the top races of the day (I know you're very proud of the Canadian clean sweep, but I normally don't give much credit to non-Olympic distances, unless record breaking times or upsets of "big names" are recorded).

To the surprise of no one, Katie Ledecky races for the first time in her life a 1500 FR short course and breaks the WR by 10 seconds. And barely kicking at all :p

Stage #2 (:CAN Toronto)

best of day #2

:USA Katie Ledecky is of course the top hit of last night's program...

as already written, she won the W 1500m Free in WR breaking 15.08.24 and then she was second in the W 200m Free behind :HKG Siobhan Haughey (1.51.13 for the winner, 1.52.31 for the American).

:CAN Summer McIntosh swam another JWR in the W 400m IM, 4.21.49 (about 2.5 secs slower than Belmonte's senior WR), leading a Canadian clean sweep.

:TTO Dylan Carter won the M 50m Back, being the only swimmer below the 23-sec mark (22.94).

:USA Shane Casas confirmed himself in very good shape and went not so far away from the WR of the M 200m IM (1.50.37 the time of his win, new SCWC record).

:USA Beata Nelson beat :CAN Kylie Masse in the W 100m Back (55.75 to 56.16).

:CAN Maggie McNeil dominated the W 50m Fly in 24.75, only less than 4/10 of a sec slower than Alshammar's WR.

:LTU Ruta Meilutyte ended up winning a fierce battle against :USA Lilly King in the W 100m Breast (1.02.95 to 1.03.33), in one of the best races of the night.

but the top was probably seen in the M 200m Fly, where :USA Trenton Julian edged out :RSA Chad Le Clos 1.49.69 to 1.49.78 (the winning time is also a new SCWC record).

finally, the M 100m Free: :AUS Kyle Chalmers dominated once again this race in 45.52, ahead of :ITA Thomas Ceccon (46.15 for him).

    • Officials persons (include Head) of RLF are still in ban. For example, Vaelbe has spoken even more terrible words but, however, CAS obliged to gave them AIN status. • For Modern Pentathlon, it's interesting that Africa only gets one continental championship spot, considering how well Egypt does in the event.  (But then again, it's max 2 athletes per NOC per gender.)  Presuming that an Egyptian wins the African CCh, I suppose their performance in the other major competitions will allow the second competitor to come through.

In this perseverance lies our shared strength, our mission to millions of young people for whom sports are a guiding point and a shining star. I believe in our country, in our strong-spirited guys. • I did not think it would happen again but... I created similar post for Paris - 2024 https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/27489-ain-athletes-qualification-for-paris-2024-olympic-games-and-reallocation-of-quotas-post1-updated-1507/#comments  I was not sure if that reallocations would really happen but the reality was even more serious than the expectations. According to this research 43% of the neutral statuses issued by the IFs were fake AIN  - https://razom22.com/neutrality-research/  And the figures are based on the IOC decisions - not on the evaluations by Ukrainian NOC or sport ministry. Right now the situation is absolutely unclear. As usually )) Some notes: 1. Russians will not reject quotas for 2026 as they did for 2024 in judo and wrestling. 2. AINERP may be more loyal to russians due to the new member - Watanabe. His federation issued AIN status to Melnikova who took part in the primaries of the russian ruling party, had phots with Z and e .t.c. 3. I do not expect a lot of reallocations becaues of the total small number of the rus/blr athletes in qualification events right now. 4. BUT, even with these small numbers we see that FIS allowed to compete several incompliant persons.        Short notes from the IOC statement before Paris - 2024:   1. IOC`s decisions to reject quotas are final. 2. IOC`s decisions to approve quotas are not final - new facts may lead to the rejection of invitation. 3. IOC`s decisions cannot be appealed - NOCs were not invited to the Games, so it is a good will to invite individual athletes... or not   russians Sports Athlete(s) Discipline Possible Reallocation NOC IOC Decision + IF reallocation if happened Figure skating Adeliia PETROSIAN Women's singles Stefania Yakovleva Confirmed by IOC Figure skating Petr GUMENNIK Men's singles Davide Lewton Brain Confirmed by IOC belorussians     Sports Athlete(s) Discipline Possible Reallocation NOC IOC Decision + IF reallocation if happened Figure skating Viktoriya SAFONOVA Women's singles Stefania Yakovleva Confirmed by IOC
    • I would say they will not be eligible. But it realy abotut the wording every federation has in its papers. World Aquatics changes their policies several times (especially after Mazepin "solved the issues" persoanlly - as witnessed one russian Olympic champion)   Inoirtnat notes on FIS decisions:   FIS points are frozen for ruissns and belorussians - so the situation is not so complicated for a lot of them. The list of the AIN`s is not final as the list from ISU was. It means that persons mau be not only removed from the list but added as well. I expect russians to try some freestyle applications before the stage in China, for example. FIS has not problems with the deny of visa or entris by the host countries. So they kept the possibility to close the doors for the russians for all the countries as ICF did. No sanctions for this, no removing events from the Olympic qualification list, no host changes,   * * * * * Here is the the relevant extract from FIS papers for Aerials tram event. What do you think?
