I'm still asking myself how on earth both the Italian Epee teams couldn't even make the semifinals after the dominating performance in the individual events?:wall:

however, we still won the most medals overall (and we're second in the Gold Medal ranking)...so, in the end it wasn't a bad campaign, after all...the future of our Fencing is still somehow promising...:d

I went to high school and ran cross country with Stephen Ewart. I always joked that he’d make the Olympics one day. I’d like to think I can predict the future. (He’s also a way better fencer than runner, though he’s better at both than me) (We were good friends, but better enemies)

Who allegedly dominates him at every activity imaginable. I wonder, is that really enough to make him an enemy? Surely we are missing out on some juicy details. :p

    • I think the reason is that it's generally preferable to have a fast shooter in the 1st leg, and especially in the prone shooting, where Hofer is quite slow.   Now, I'm not saying I agree with the choice, because I don't. I think it's going to neutralize Giacomel's skiing skills in the 1st lap at least.   I guess the idea is to try and set a very fast pace in the 1st leg, which is usually quite tactical, but I'm afraid that's going to force Giacomel to risk too much because he will feel he has to make some time somehow.   Regardless, Italy must be on the podium tomorrow. I think that would be crucial for the following races as well. I think France is the clear favorite, but the other teams are not stronger than Italy on paper.
