They announced the Iranian team for Rio and dropped the 2013 World Silver medalist Bahador Molaei, poor guy left Tehran for his hometown in north of Iran and had a terrible accident on his way. :( his grandfather died in the accident and he is in a bad situation himself. that was the terrible news to start the day :(

so sorry for bahador , what a bad luck he had! i hope his brother which involved in accident would be safe :(

i don't know if national team case affect on this accident

maybe i'm wrong but i don't understand meaning of this choice? why hashemi instead of molaei. as far as i know even we cut BLR and RUS weightlifters, molaei had a better chance to be medalist compare to hashemi, specially this hashemi which had a quite good potential to fail in snatch and eliminating before clean and jerk

An Iranian website made an interesting research about where all these 63 athletes came from, here is the outcome

there are 62 names in this list because Leila Rajabi is originally from Belarus and didn't raise in Iran, but if she had to be counted, she is competing from the province of "Bushehr"

this is very interesting that Mazandaran has more numbers than the capital Tehran !!

there are 19 provinces in this list, surprisingly nobody from Kurdistan, Ardabil or Gilan !

Yes. I was sad after Asian qualification. He was great on one world cup if I remember well.

Alireza Khojasteh withdrew from the Olympics because of "family reasons" !!!  :wall::(

PS: this is nonsense, they made him withdraw because there is an Israeli athlete in his weight. the same happened for Javad Mahjoub 4 years ago.  Khojasteh is just 19 and he had no chance but still this is stupid to deny him his right for such reason.

What happen to Iran this time.. Not much gold's in Wrestling .. You are power house of our Asia in Wrestling..

We still got 5 medals in wrestling. That is not bad at all. You can hardly compare asian level with world level. Plus at least two of our wrestlers Reza Yazdani and Omid Nourouzi got robbed. I am much more disappointed with Taekwondo.
