Canada somewhat miraculously made the quarterfinals in the men's rugby 7s tournament, thanks to Ireland accidentally putting the ball in touch too early. Canada will face New Zealand in the quarterfinals.

I think a silver medal is a great achievement.  And she was very close.  And a race is a race.  You can never predict what kind of performance you will achieve.

Making the top 8 is a great result for the team, especially since they had a pretty tough group. And Canada has beaten New Zealand before, so we never know. Once you get to the quarterfinals in rugby 7s there really isn't an easy matchup.

Canada finishing 4th is just such a proud tradition, it's kind of sad that judo doesn't respect that.

(It was meant as a joke)

That's funny because when I looked at the standings an hour or two ago trying to do the math I thought it'd take a miracle in the Ireland game for Canada to make it.

For real.  I remember the dark days of Canadian swimming where we'd be lucky to see one or two Canadians make a final.  Still hoping the men develop some contenders, and the relay showed that they probably have.

CBP into the next round vs Krssakova of Austria in judo. Of note, Krssakova has beatedn CBP three times and has never lost. The last time they met, which was this year, CBP lost like Klimkait did in the semis yesterday.

28 is pretty old for a swimmer on the women's side. Canada could have a shot in the medley relay if we discover a good breastroker in the next couple days :P

I think Pickrem will be good enough to help the gold medal butterflyer, silver backstrocker and a resurging Oleksiak to a medal in that relay.
