With no Russia, expect a lot of medals to be won by other nations. is third after the qualification round in the women's duet technical.

 

It's also dumb that Canada hasn't competed in the duets here (or at the World Cups). There's a good chance we'll fail to qualify a team to the Olympics and I don't think it will be a good idea to try and scramble a routine to qualify in the duets (though on paper we should qualify relatively easily).

Bronze for  Evangelia Platanioti in the solo technical routine, our first ever World Championships medal in artistic/synchronized swimming

The Greek sisters competing for Austria who weren't good enough for our team several years ago, are now doing better than our girls

Tuned in for the solo free final... Pretty uneventful.

 

I think the TV direction is ruining this sport. It's impossible to appreciate the choreography with all these constant cuts. At the very least they could remove those obnoxious underwater gimmick shots which add no value whatsoever!

So Anita Alvarez  became unwell after her routine in one of the finals yesterday (7th) and sank to the bottom  

 

Thankfully her coach was very well aware of what was happening, jumped right in and picked her up from the bottom of the pool. When she was coming up, someone from the organization jumped in as well and helped her to the side and out of the pool, where Alvarez regained consciousness.
