what a shame! 

 

 did throw a deserved win away in the bottom of the 7th inning, gifting  a medal chance despite the many errors made by their defence and the not exactly solid performance by their pitchers 

 

and Today it's already time for the Main Round, with the big clash between  and  set to begin in a few minutes, @ 11 a.m. CET (7 p.m. in Japan, 5 a.m. ET in North America)

so,  can't overtake  even if they win and keep  to 0 runs scored, unless they do win X-0 playing at least 1/3 of the 7th offensive inning (which is even more difficult than what it already looks, given that  are the Home team and attack second later Tonight)

 

on the other hand,  would overtake at least  if they win with any score and keeping  to max 1 run scored

 

finally,  would overtake  and finish 7th with a win Tonight

What happened to   

 

I remember we beat them in the bronze medal match at Tokyo 2020 just a couple of years ago, and now they can’t even qualify for the World Cup? …

Mexico finished 6th at the 2022 Pan American Championships, only the top 5 qualified to the World Cup.
