Which other federation organizes tournaments with 4 groups but in which the top 2 of a group will meet each other again in the quarterfinals? :facepalm:All because of this stupid obsession of having 4 hosts.

And in NED they used a hall in Rotterdam (16000 seats according to Wikipedia) for the first part of the group phase but they will play eight and quarterfinals in Apeldoorn (2000 seats)

Yeah they could have switched Rotterdam (which as a capacity of around 11.000 instead of 16.000 for the volleyball) and Apeldoorn around, but then again, Apeldoorn is much nicer than Rotterdam so Rotterdam can suck it :p

The numbers aren't entirely correct though, maybe the 2000 for Apeldoorn is when they don't open the velodrome stands. They were opened at the Nation's League this year and last year and there were over 5200 people at the match against Brazil a few months ago. Last year I was there, it definitely wasn't completely full (the velodrome stands were opened) and the counter was at 4600 apparently.

Still less than in Rotterdam of course, but not a difference of 14.000 :p

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Big congratulations to :ROU... they knew they already don't have basically any chance of qualifying, but still they played their hearts out and because of it they eliminated :POR:bowdown:

Such a dramatic turn of events for all teams, as :ROU, :POR and :GRE had the same amount of matches won, points,. AND identical set ratio :yikes:That doesn't happen very often.

Congratulations to :GRE, which turned out to have the best small point ratio and therefore qualified to the next round.

Wow, unbevielable... apparently 1 small point decided that it's Greece who qualifies... If Portugal would, for example, lose the 1st set today 22-25 instead od 21-25, THEY would be the ones to play the eightfinals :yikes: What a crazy, crazy situation.

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
    • The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
