:SEN has qualified their first athlete in athletics (men's 110m hurdles) via Louis Francois Mendy at the Meeting National d'Athletisme de Troyes

And so the onslaught begins. How many nations will qualify in athletics by the time the World Championships begin?

So :ROC Anna Egorova achieved a swimming OQT at the french elite championships. Does that count or are Russian athletes not able to qualify at all right now?

I believe they can qualify, but must meet certain criteria. I am not sure if Egorova meets that criteria. World Aquatics will probably publish a list later on who is eligible.

I'd like to wait until someone wins a quota in a direct qualifier to remove all doubt, but I do acknowledge that Egorova may be the first qualifier.

:KAZ has qualified their first athlete in cycling (men's road race) via Gleb Brussenskiy at the ACC Asian Road Cycling Championships

Finally, :p. They were sticking out as an unqualified nation.

The next "big" unqualified nations are Uzbekistan and Finland.

:GUM Manami Iijima places 9th out of 16 at the Africa Triathlon Cup event at Swakopmund, Namibia.

Earlier this year, she participated at the Oceania Triathlon Cup race at Taupo, New Zealand where she took 12th out of 25 finishers.

Iijima has a World Ranking of 263 and is currently on the Start List for the next Africa Cup event in Zimbabwe on Saturday.

Nice find. With Australia and New Zealand qualifying naturally, all she needs to do is have a World (not Olympic) ranking of 180 or higher by the deadline.
