  1. Past hour
  2. No individual medal for Duncan Scott would seem unlikely to me. Could see him getting a minor medal in the 200 IM and to be honest he could win the 200 free, him and Matt’s race at trials was phenomenally close.
  3. Man the women’s team is snake bitten. With a fully fit squad they could have really challenged in Paris. The more things progress the more likely it seems that either Gadirova sister will make it back in time. At least on the socials the recovery of Jess seems to be going well, just don’t think they are targeting Paris.
  4. Not one of the biggest Greek sports website claiming our LW2X girls are "very close to the Olympic quota" after finishing 1st in their heat at the European Championships They did change the article after several hours to erase the evidence that they thought this race had something to do with the Olympics
  5. So it looks like our sailing team will go down from 8 members in Tokyo to 4 in Paris. It seems bad, but actually is not so bad when you look at it. 470 became mixed, so instead of 4 sailors we only had the chance to qualify 2, which we did (so -2 overall) RS:X became iQFoil and we still got the men's quota but not women's, after the change of categories (-3 overall) Karachaliou in ILCA 6 had a lot of drama with our sailing federation and got the quota for Portugal but won't be going to Paris regardless it seems (-4 overall) The finn is no longer an Olympic category which caused Mitakis to retire after three consecutive Olympic qualifications (-5 overall) Maramenidis got the quota in men's kite, which is +1 for us (-4 overall) Our sailing federation is lucky they can use the above as excuses for the small amount of quotas even if it still is a low point for Greek sailing. Also I sort of thought the Mixed Nacra team would have a good chance (I think they missed out by 1 spot for Tokyo but don't quote me on that, it was definitely close), especially with Papadopoulou being a bit older/more experienced now, but they still missed out by a few spots. The biggest missed opportunities though were definitely ILCA 6 (Karachaliou leaving us), and ILCA 7 (multiple good young prospects who came close but no one took a quota). Also if you include Tsortanidis instead of Kokkalanis, we have all 4 of our quota athletes being in their early 20s, so I'm optimistic that Greek sailing can rise again.
  6. Finally we got quotas in sailing! We were in danger of missing out for the first time since 1936, after we had 8 sailors in Tokyo. Now we have 2 confirmed here, and should get another 2 in the 470 mixed. I'm happy for Maramenidis to make his Olympic debut. I'm glad we got the quota in iQFoil and Kokkalanis will go to the Olympics for the 4th time, though I am sad for Tsortanidis who I wanted to see take the quota, he is from a small island and it would've been nice to see him go to the Olympics from there, also Kokkalanis is old and had his chances for a medal in the past and didn't take them. Of course Tsortanidis also finished this regatta in a qualifying position but there's only one quota per nation. It's too bad that he has to miss out when there are other boat classes where we did not qualify anyone. And the 470 quota with Spanaki/Spanaki looks 99% confirmed. I'm happy for Spanaki, she proved her critics (aka me ) wrong after accusing her of stealing the Tokyo quota from a more deserving team (she came out of nowhere and got a 2004 Olympic gold medalist out of retirement and together they won our internal regatta over Bozi/Klonaridou who were our only competitive 470 duo from Rio 2016 until a few months before Tokyo). Also it's a shame Papadakos is 5th in the ILCA 7 and will miss Paris, after our sailing federation messed up and prevented him from getting the quota a few months ago. He is young so hopefully he can make it to LA and/or Brisbane instead.
  7. Yesterday
  8. Maria Kyridou (rowing) She didn't qualify yet, but was 5th in the women's pair in Tokyo as a 20 yo, and was planning on going to the final qualification regatta in the women's double sculls with her sister Anneta (who competed in the single scull in Tokyo). Unfortunately, Maria has a foot injury and just got surgery earlier this week. Meanwhile, Anneta since last month started training again for the single sculls while her sister has been injured.
  9. Looks like Paris will be the last time we have to put up with that ridiculous world record line that gobbles everyone up in the last 100.
  10. That 1:55.35 is faster than Wang Shun went at trials last year and then he went 1:54 at Asian Games later in the year. If Marchand wants that gold he's gonna have to swim a best time in the Olympic final after a very heavy program consisting of 2 x 400 IM, 3 x 200 FL, 3 x 200 BR and 2 x 200 IM plus some relays while Wang Shun will probably only have swum 2 x 200 IM plus maybe the 4x200 relay final. It'll be a massive feat if Marchand can pull it off.
  11. Well, I don't know. Just saying what Czech federation said and they also mentioned that it has been confirmed. Of course I am happy if it's true but also surprised
  12. Oh no. Hoeofully nothing serious otherwise the team will struggle to even make the final in Paris.
  13. I wonder if there will be more races apart from medal race? If so, we could see changes
  14. https://sof.regatta.ffvoile.fr/en/default/races/race-resultsall on this table every contender for ENP is clearly signed. There are no ENP quotas on 49er and 49er FX...

  16. According to Czech sailing Federation, we are on the list of ENP. So even before the medal race, all the quotas have been decided. https://www.sailing.cz/clanky/dramaticky-paty-den-last-chance-regatta-ve-francouzskem-hyeres?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3O69zIuj88Zm-kQp4JsrlLZzJfn69e9gWsMdMiTWE8BHt_zX7YWIjKs54_aem_AX9aM-IpJ6-IDTz40LNxwi0U9CQPlRkopxaqz-DJJpOX4u5p-2R-OKY0t3hM2Yv1kv5-Bgd0PZxu3ZjKI-xhDErS They weren't so sure so I will explain their statement. Even I did not find any info that there will be quotas for ENP (at least according to wiki). Their counting and explanation: ENP are and speaking of nations that qualified for the medal race. Because won't be worse than 3rd, will get the direct quota. First ENP goes to :JPN, second to . As they also mentioned is not on the ENP list. They did their counting like this but they were not so sure. And also according to their words, this has been confirmed around 7pm. So in the 49erFX, the quotas should be
  17. Ondine Achampong has been withdrawn from the team due to injury and will be replaced by Abigail Martin next week.
  18. Selection of athletes in action over the course of this weekend including: 27th Apr: Shanghai Diamond League : Megan Keith secured the OQS in the 10,000m at the first time of asking. In Shanghai, she goes over the 5000m. Her PB in the event is just under 14:57 from last year so she would need to find 5 seconds to dip under the standard. Ethan Hussey will compete in the 800m and Daryll Neita gets her outdoor season underway in the 200m. 27th-28th: 37th Multistars : Jade O'Dowda is scheduled to compete in the Heptathlon. The OQS is 6480 - 225 points more than her current PB but it's not out of reach. If she can get under 13.5 for the 100m hurdles and get over 1.86 in the high jump, she'll set herself up with a great chance of getting the standard despite a relatively weak shot put. If she does fall short of the OQS, her secondary target will be the UK Athletics standard of 6260 - that's just 5 points more than her current PB. 27-Apr: Texas Invitational : Dina Asher-Smith will line up in both the 100m and 200m. Whilst she has put in a couple of solid relay legs so far this season, her opening outing in the 200m earlier this month was probably not quite what she wanted it to be. Yusuf Bizimana will be going in the 800m 27-Apr: Desert Heat Classic : David King opens his outdoor season in the 110m Hurdles, whilst Brodie Young is in the 400m 27-Apr: Drake Relays : Tade Ojora lines up in the 110m hurdles. He currently heads up the UK list for 2024 with his 13.48 but needs to find another 0.2 seconds to hit the OQS. Cindy Sember already has the OQS and has been in great form so far this year and will look to continue that in the 100m hurdles. Lizzie Bird makes her 2024 track debut in the 3000m Steeplechase 27-Apr: Penn Relays : Kyle Langford competes in the 800m
  19. Peru, Cyprus, Brazil, Japan, Finland and Denmark finished better than the Austria athlete. That has to be a mistake, doesn't make sense.
  21. finnished 18th and 22nd....... And they gave the quota to when the process clearly sais that it would reallocate into Emerging Nations Programe..... But at least this I can get. But the other one? Doesn't make any sense with the published results.......
  22. They got Estonia right (now i realize), but this means 8 quotas???
  23. How the hell did they get to those results???
  24. Yeah that was before the Pan American Badminton Championships.
  25. 55.36 for Savannah Sutherland in the women’s 400m hurdles at the Penn Relays! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6MyvDyPExl/?igsh=MWt3djM3MW9sZGRvZQ==
