    The writing of the 2014 book was up to the same standard as before but the publishers were incompetent and made a horrible mess of formatting the book. Also in 2016 "David Wallechinsky has confirmed that, for the first time since 1984, he will not be publishing a new version of The Complete Book of the Olympics on the eve of the Summer Games - and added that writing what has become established as one of sport’s set texts is “no longer cost-effective.”

    Well, I was hopelessly wrong. It was their opponents, Nepal, who set the world record. 314 being 13% higher than in any other of the 2255 games at this level.

    Three points. 1 - I owe you a grovelling apology. In my mind Zoe was a world junior champion champion at mountain biking when, of course, she was a champion in cyclo cross 2 - However, I think she could be world class in mountain biking if she put her mind to it, 3 - Disagree, Henderson, as good as she is, is not in the same class as Zoe as a time trialist. Zoe will be a world or Olympic champion in the future. The question is really if that happens in Paris or will she have to wait for LA 2028?

    I have serious doubts whether Adam Peaty will be as good as he was in 2016 and 2021. But for I have a good feeling about Zoe Backstedt winning a medal in either the road time trial or the mountain biking.

    I think the men's event could be decided on what happens at the Tour de France. Whether Evanepoel or Ganna take part and whether Pogacar has a hard race or not. Also don't rule out Tarling GBR for a medal. World bronze medalist at 19, which is an age where you can improve huge amounts in a short time.

    OK, I've now read the full ITIA decision on Halep and it really can't be much worse for her. There's a strong suggestion, although it can't be conclusively proved, that she was doping since 2014.
