  1. And the shocks continue... defeat I expect @heywooduto be dancing in the street tonight
  2. The writing of the 2014 book was up to the same standard as before but the publishers were incompetent and made a horrible mess of formatting the book. Also in 2016 "David Wallechinsky has confirmed that, for the first time since 1984, he will not be publishing a new version of The Complete Book of the Olympics on the eve of the Summer Games - and added that writing what has become established as one of sport’s set texts is “no longer cost-effective.”
  3. OK, this is going to be interesting. The miracle is on. in a strong position to beat
  4. Up until 12 months ago I would have agreed with @Orangehair43 but the improvement of British performances has been surprising lately.
  5. Ultimate have applied for the last three Games and never got close to making the shortlist. Have to ask if they're serious about it or just wasting time and money
  6. England Lacrosse claim 18,000 players https://www.statista.com/statistics/934933/lacrosse-participation-uk/ I find that hard to believe though
  7. No way India would risk losing to Pakistan by leaving out their best players
  8. The alternative men's qualification which discounts results that will not be counted by June 2024
  9. Well, I was hopelessly wrong. It was their opponents, Nepal, who set the world record. 314 being 13% higher than in any other of the 2255 games at this level.
  10. This is a very random thing to ask - but how many runs will the Mongolian men's cricket team score against Nepal later today? I could see a world record low score coming up...
  11. Three points. 1 - I owe you a grovelling apology. In my mind Zoe was a world junior champion champion at mountain biking when, of course, she was a champion in cyclo cross 2 - However, I think she could be world class in mountain biking if she put her mind to it, 3 - Disagree, Henderson, as good as she is, is not in the same class as Zoe as a time trialist. Zoe will be a world or Olympic champion in the future. The question is really if that happens in Paris or will she have to wait for LA 2028?
  12. I have serious doubts whether Adam Peaty will be as good as he was in 2016 and 2021. But for I have a good feeling about Zoe Backstedt winning a medal in either the road time trial or the mountain biking.
  13. Joke by one of the Aussie journalists at Sydney 2000 when Rob Waddell won the single sculls. "Typical of New Zealand, the only way they can win gold is by sitting down and going backwards"
  14. I think the men's event could be decided on what happens at the Tour de France. Whether Evanepoel or Ganna take part and whether Pogacar has a hard race or not. Also don't rule out Tarling GBR for a medal. World bronze medalist at 19, which is an age where you can improve huge amounts in a short time.
  15. Confirmed as a fractured eye socket not jaw
  16. France 96 Namibia 0 BUT Antoine Dupont, French captain and best player in the world, has gone to hospital with a suspected concussion and possibly a broken jaw
  17. They couldn't have had an indoor bowl out competition?
  18. This year is the 20th anniversary of losing to 142-0.
  19. OK, I've now read the full ITIA decision on Halep and it really can't be much worse for her. There's a strong suggestion, although it can't be conclusively proved, that she was doping since 2014.
  20. Ruby showed huge potential in her senior international debut back in February.
  21. There's also the game in 1973 where the All Blacks beaten by the team from the small town of Llanelli in Wales Which was immortalized in song above.
