  1. Interestingly he said that he might go for more than one sport. Let's go crazy and take a look in which all sports he could possibly compete if he aims to take part in as many as possible. Universality sports Athletics - almost any individual event if selected by Tongan NOC Swimming - any individual event if selected by Tongan NOC Easily achievable continental qualification Judo - Just participating at couple of qualification events should be enough for an Oceanian continental place. Sailing - Just participating at a qualification regatta likely enough for Finn, RS:X, 470, 49er and Nacra. Might face a couple of nations in Laser. Taekwondo - Already qualified there for Rio. Should be easy enough if Australia doesn't choose that weight. Possible continental qualification Archery - Could become possible if Australia gets a quota before the continental qualification, however island nations are not that bad here (including Tonga). Badminton - If Australia again decides to decline men's singles quota, then he could get a continental place. Quite possible, Tonga itself almost qualified for Rio but it turned out that their player didn't have enough international tournaments to be eligible. Canoeing - Both slalom and sprint are possible, though Oceania does have decent athletes outside of AUS/NZL... I guess C1 (200m or 1000m) in sprint might be the best chance. Artistic gymnastics - Should be able to qualify through continental qualification event, provided that both AUS/NZL qualify before. Open water swimming - Could qualify if both AUS/NZL qualify directly and/or decline. Tripartite commission invitation Boxing, Trampoline, Modern pentathlon, Rowing, Table tennis, Weightlifting, Wrestling (+ Archery, Badminton, Canoeing, Artistic gymnastics, Judo, Sailing, Taekwondo) So it's possible for him to compete in 16 sports. However, he may struggle to reach minimum eligibility in a couple of them (I already excluded shooting for example because reaching MQS there is probably impossible). Also, I don't think Tripartite Commission would be that lenient for this cause. Anyone wants to suggest this to him and make a complete mockery of the Olympics? @heywoodu perhaps?

Lmao for a brief moment the official site showed that our high jumper had cleared 2.30 and I thought since when do we have a Barshim but nah, it was a mistake, just 2.25

I dalje mislim da nam najviše fali Malešević, jer Brankica je, ukoliko bismo gledali širu sliku, mnogo bolji napadač nego primač

  6. To be honest in first set when I saw Kerber was leading 4-0 I said this is the end for Halep. Lucky she played better in next sets. I'm afraid of Muguruza, she destroyed Sharapova today....

    South American Games 2018

Yes, but that doesn't mean Brazil is better in every swimming event... I think that with everyone's A team and compared to the results of this games, Brazil would gain golds in men's breaststroke + medley and female free short distances but would lose the golds in female breastroke and men's butterfly (possibly the female 200fly too). And the female medley would become 50/50. So, all in all the results wouldn't change much.

Ok, but that's just one sport. If anything, the other nations are reducing the gap in most sports. I only see Judo as one where Brazil could still sweep most golds assuming everyone came here with the best.

  12. Monica Pimentel lost to the Uruguayan athlete, so no gold medal for Aruba this time.

  13. Not gonna happen. Virtually no one knows about the South American Games in Brazil. The major TV networks ignored the event, and not even channels on cable TV are broadcasting. It's like it just never existed. Why would the federations care about a competition virtually no one cares about around here? Too bad, I know, but unfortunately I can't see things changing in the near future, unless we host the Games in 2026. Like @vinipereira said, this is mostly seen as a competition for lesser known or beginner athletes, and I have to say I also like it this way. If we send out best athletes, I believe the results will not be exciting. In gymnastics, for example, we sent our best gymnasts and so far we have 16 of 21 gold medals. Of course we have world class gymnasts from other nations (such as Tomás González from Chile and Jossimar Calvo from Colombia), but even they can't keep up with the Brazilian athletes. The best thing that happened was Dominici beating two Olympic finalists and earning gold, but this was the only good surprise of the whole competition, in my opinion.
