  1. 1-1 Final score, A 20 minutes Sudden death Overtime will be played now after 15 minutes ice ressurfacing to decide the Women´s Ice Hockey World Champion
  2. The equalizing goal...Earthquake noticed in Finland
  3. 10 minutes to go , USA - Finland 1-1 are we going to have around the corner the biggest sport upset of the history of the humanity ?
  4. Just passing here to say that Slovan Bratislava is "again" the Slovak national champion. They won their 9th title since the independance (the club was also 8 times champion of former Czechoslovakia, including the legendary title in 1992 - the last Czechoslovakian league season played) This time (even if I´m obviously far far far from being a fan of this club ) I must admit that it was in a really mentionable manner, already 6 rounds to go ! They have after todays win in Žilina 19 points advantage in the table, so 6 games left = 18 points max to achieve, it´s official they are champions. This summer they will represent us in Champions league qualifying round, let´s hope they will pass at least one opponent

  6. Hungarian women earn historic promotion Host Hungary won the gold medals at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division I Group A in Budapest by only having one blemish on its record which was a shootout lose to Slovakia. They will be promoted together with second-ranked Denmark. “This is a sweet taste since there was tremendous pressure on the team. We played against some hard opponents as we battled for promotion, this is a great feeling right now. We needed to play as a team and not rely on two or three key players,” said Hungary’s head coach Pat Cortina after the last game, a win against neighbour Austria. Heading into the tournament there were no clear-cut favourites to win the group but it did make things easier that the top-two teams in the group were to move up to the top division with the new format and ten teams. Hungary and Denmark will replace Sweden and France for the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in Halifax, Canada. Everyone knew that a loss would not eliminate the chances of promotion but make things harder. When asked just about what their expectation were for the tournament, almost every head coach said the same. That they will be taking the tournament one game at a time but they feel that they have a team that can earn promotion to play in Halifax next year. Back to Budapest, the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division I Group A started off with Denmark getting past Slovakia by the score of 3-1 thanks to a brace by Josephine Jakobsen. In the second game of the opening day Hungary just got past Norway 2-1 as Averi Nooren scored a goal and helped set up one as well. The opening day closed out with Austria cruising past Italy 4-1, Theresa Schafzahl closed out the match with two goals. All six teams were back on the ice the following day, Denmark got past Italy 6-1 as all six goals were scored by someone different. Hungary hit a road bump as they lost to Slovakia 2-1 in sudden death shootout. Norway squeaked out a one goal win in a game that produced nine goals in total. After the second day the two Scandinavian countries were sitting at the top of the standings. The teams enjoyed a day off on Tuesday before they were back to battle it out on Wednesday. It looked as if the day off did not help everyone as Norway, who was tied for first place, struggled to get past winless Italy with Denmark blowing a 2-0 lead and falling to Hungary 6-2. Hungary was able to turn the game around with a string second period where Fanni Gasparics scored two goals and helped set up another two. Austria needed overtime as they picked up two out of the three points against Slovakia. Through the first three games of the tournament every team had dropped points somewhere along the way. The host national of Hungary was sitting in first place with seven points with four other teams still having a chance at promotion. The second to last match day really brought the group picture into focus as Norway shut out Slovakia 4-0 thanks to the excellent play of Nystrom in net. Like Norway Hungary also wanted to take a step towards promotion, they did this by lighting up Italy by the score of 9-0. Aniko Nemeth had the shutout while Gasparics finished the game with five points. In somewhat of a surprise Austria put eight goals past Denmark in an 8-3 win. Heading into the final game day no team had locked up promotion. Denmark, Norway, Austria and Hungary all could have closed out the day with a top-two finish. In the first game of the day Slovakia just got past Italy by the score of 2-1. Denmark pulled off a bit of a surprise as they shut out Norway 4-0 thanks to two goals by Jakobsen and excellent play by Repstock-Romme between the pipes. With Norway losing to Denmark that meant that Hungary was through to the top division and Norway was out for sure. Now it was down to who would be joining the host nation. If Austria won, Austria would take the gold and Hungary the silver and Denmark the bronze. If Hungary won, then it would be Hungary taking the gold, Denmark the silver and Norway the bronze. In short, depending on the result Austria could finish first or fourth, go up or stay where they were. The final game of the tournament started out great for Hungary as Gasparics gave Hungary the lead 21 seconds into the game. Minutes later Austria also found the back of the net by a goal from Meixner. The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the third period when Bernadett Nemeth scored to make it 2-1. This would end up being the winning score as Hungary won promotion on home ice to the top division for the first time in history of the senior Women’s World Championship. “It also helped that before the game that we knew we had already won promotion because we did not have any pressure on us,” said the tournament's top forward Gasparics. “This being said, we always wanted to take home first place. I am very happy that the tournament went so well for me despite the hard season that I had. I always say that in the end truth always wins and we need to believe all the way until the end. In the end everything fell into place and we were able to close the season on a high note.” Denmark earned promotion to the Division I Group A for the first time. The country had a short stint at the top level when appearing in the first ever IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship back in 1992 where it finished in seventh place. Since reappearing in international women’s ice hockey in 1999, Denmark has played either at he second or third level of the program missing out on promotion by just one win in 2013. While Gasparics won the award as best forward, Charlotte Wittich of Austria won the vote for the best defender while Norway’s Ena Nystrom got the award as best goaltender. IIHF.COM

  12. we´ll see what will happen. there some direct confrontations here and there that may be interesting for us, right now Boston-Toronto is pretty followed back in Slovakia as well with the likes of Chára and mainly Jaro Halák vs Martin Marinčin in the opposite site + Boston´s flop will slightly help to solve the Cehlárik problem if Providence lost to Charlotte in Calder Cup Play-Offs Anyway it´s still at the players themselves if they will accept the invitations and will want to play at the Worlds, but so far this year it looks like everyone want (for obvious reasons?)
  13. Also Poland has it´s champion. GKS Tychy won the finals series 4-2 over Comarch Krakow. and the celebrations could started in Tychy
  14. Poland powers to promotion An impressive week’s work saw Poland’s U18s score 36 goals in five games to romp away with gold in the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division II Group A. The Polish offence got steadily stronger throughout the competition, culminating in a 13-0 demolition of Spain to celebrate the title and elevation to Division IB after a two-year absence. Playing in a city built to house workers at Lithuania’s largest power station, Poland’s electric attacking play simply overloaded the opposition. Under the guidance of head coach Tomasz Demkowicz, who played for Poland in the country’s last top-division World Championship appearance in 2002, the team was a class above everyone else. Poland began with a 3-1 success over Romania, the team demoted into this section last year. Jakub Blanik snapped a 1-1 tie at the start of the third, Marcin Plachetka scored a short-handed effort two minutes from the hooter and the Poles were up and running. A 7-1 thumping of host nation Lithuania, led by two goals apiece for Maciej Witan and Mateusz Bezwinski, confirmed that this team was a force to be reckoned with. The same two players shared three more goals in a 5-0 win over Korea as Poland opened up a lead at the top of the table after three games. Following the rest day, the Poles kept on scoring goals. Estonia was still in with a chance of gold until three goals in the first 10 minutes put Poland on its way to a crushing 8-2 victory. Then came that drubbing of relegated Spain to finish. Witan signed off with a hat-trick and Sebastian Brinkus scored 2+3 on the night to finish on top of the scoring charts. Demkowicz could celebrate a flawless campaign in his first experience as head coach of a Polish national team. Second place went to the host nation Lithuania, which matched last season’s result. Estonia, fifth last year, rebounded to claim third and will be back for a fourth successive season at this level. That’s the best spell in the country’s history of U18 World Championship play. At the end of the table, newly-promoted Spain found life tough. As well as stepping up a level, this was a young roster – the average age was barely 16-and-a-half – and many of the key players from last year’s champions were now too old to compete. Despite a difficult week, Spain managed to pick up a point from a 4-5 overtime loss against Romania. The Romanians took fourth place ahead of Korea. Not surprisingly, Poland’s players also dominated the individual scoring charts. The team had four youngsters who scored 10+ points with Cracovia Krakow forward Sebastian Brynkus leading the way on 16 (4+12). Brynkus has seen his development accelerate this season, playing 36 times in Poland’s national championship and also representing the country’s U20s before coming to Lithuania as an assistant captain in his second U18 campaign. Dominant this year, 12 months ago he featured in just two games and did not manage a single point. Maciej Witan, who plays his club hockey for KH Sanok, a Polish team in Slovakia’s third tier, was the tournament’s leading goal scorer with six goals. He built on a promising campaign last year, improving from 9 (5+4) points to today’s 15 (6+9). Michal Narog (2+10) was the most productive defenceman at the event following a productive season in Poland’s second tier with Sokoly Torun. His club teammate Mateusz Bezwinski (5+5) also reached double figures in his rookie international campaign. Two Estonians, Kirill Lodeikin (5+6) and Nikita Puzakov (4+6), were the only others in Elektrenai to get 10 or more points. Lodeikin was named the leading forward of the tournament, with Poland’s Szymon Bieniek getting the top defenceman nomination. Lithuania’s Nikita Kuzminov, who plays his club hockey in the Austrian-based cross-border EBJL with Okanagan HC Europe, was chosen as top goalie with a save percentage of 92.13. Next season, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania and Korea will be joined by Serbia, promoted from Division IIB. The last team in the section will be determined next week in Hungary where the Division IB starts today in Szekesfehervar. IIHF.COM
  15. Richard "Mr. I play for the coyotes" Pánik is in woohooo what amazing morning info http://www.hokejportal.net/?q=clanok/91516/k-timu-sa-pripoji-aj-panik-proti-rakusku-aj-so-studenicom He, Tomáš Tatar, Andrej Sekera and Christián Jaroš will arrive after the easter weekend, so they will miss the next weeks 3rd training camp with the 2 test matches in Austria. Also, now the AHL Regular season is over, it´s now confirmed that The young prospect Marián Studenič from AHL Binghampton will reinforce our team as well, he´ll be already in the team for the games in Austria. Looking at the results from AHL, Also Marko Daňo could be a fine reinforcement for us, his team will not play the AHL Play-Offs, but sadly he´ll be surely called from the Winnipeg Jets for the NHL Play-Offs. Also an interesting pairing in AHL Play-Offs Peter Cehlárik from Providence will face Tomáš Jurčo of Charlotte, but here again it´s very likely their NHL teams Boston and Carolina will call them in case of elimination to their NHL teams for the SC Play-Offs
