  2. THIS IS LIST OF EVENTS FOR Day 5 Wednesday 3x3 BASKETBALL – Women 3x3 BASKETBALL – Men ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS – Men Individual All-Around CYCLING ROAD – Men Individual Time Trial CYCLING ROAD – Women Individual Time Trial DIVING – Men Synchronised 3m Springboard EQUESTRIAN – Dressage Individual FENCING – Men Sabre Team JUDO – Women -70 kg JUDO – Men -90 kg ROWING – Women Double Sculls ROWING – Men Double Sculls ROWING – Women Four ROWING – Men Four RUGBY – Men SURFING – Women SURFING - Men SWIMMING – Women 200m Freestyle SWIMMING – Men 200m Butterfly SWIMMING – Women 200m Individual Medley SWIMMING – Women 1500m Freestyle SWIMMING – Men 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay WEIGHTLIFTING – Men 73 kg Any thoughts, olympic fans? ;-)) Stay healthy!
  3. I predicted clean sweep 1-2-3 for the Netherlands in women's road race. Do you think it is possible? What do you think about this young girl - Lorena Wiebes? I put her in 2nd place.
  4. Yes, everything might change. I make my predictions for 2020 - it is day after day as it could have happened, if the games were not postponed.
  5. Looks like he confirmed MTB in Tokyo 2020. https://naszosie.pl/2019/09/05/mathieu-van-der-poel-nie-wystartuje-w-tokio-w-wyscigu-szosowym/
  6. I agree. That was my bet, too. But on the other hand, I think that Team China will be extremely strong in Tokyo and they will get many gold medals in sports when other people are considered to be the main favourites. And I love Federica Pellegrini so much that I just want her to win the very first gold for Italy on day 5 with 0,01 sec over Ariarne Titmus in 200m freestyle ;-)))))
  7. Oh, Mathieu van der Poel, how could I have forgotten him????!!!! When I get to day 16, I will check all my predictions again. And cycling MTB will be one of these who need some second thoughts. By the way, I must say Amstel Gold Race 2019 is the best bike race finale I have ever seen. That was something. PS. Do you think Mathieu van der Poel is able to start in a road race on Day 1 and in MTB race on day 3? Could he win 2 medals?
  8. This is interesting. I don't feel my predictions in some sports are strong, because to be honest I watch some of them only once in 4 years. But I know Team India is very strong in shooting. And making predictions in weightlifting is extremely difficult. Only 4 per gender and these numbers are even more limited for some countries because of anti-doping violations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weightlifting_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification
  9. Yes, Remco Evenepoel is absolutely great. But I think he will have more chances in the time trial. In the road race Team Belgium will be riding for Greg Van Avermaet, but this time they will not be as successful as in Rio, I'm afraid.
  10. Don't worry. On day 5 Fede is swimming 200 freestyle ;-)))))) I expect 6 silver medals for Italy in first 4 days. Which one of them has the biggest chances for gold in your opinion? I have my bets here ;-) day 1 - Vito Del'Aquilla - Taekwondo Men -58 kg day 2 - Elisa Di Francisca - Fencing Women Foil Individual day 2 - Manuel Lombardo - Judo Men -66 kg day 2 - Gabriele Detti - Swimming Men 400m Freestyle day 3 - Alessio Foconi - Fencing Men Foil Individual day 3 - Diana Bacosi - Shooting Women Skeet day 4 - none

Let;s pretend this is day 1, July 25th 2020 https://tokyo2020.org/en/schedule/20200725-schedule My predictions for: VOLLEYBALL - Men's Tournament https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volleyball_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Men's_tournament Pool A ITALY - CANADA 3-1 JAPAN - VENEZUELA 3-0 POLAND - IRAN 2-3 Pool B BRAZIL - TUNISIA 3-0 RUSSIA - ARGENTINA 3-1 UNITED STATES - FRANCE 3-2 General questions: 1. Will Russia start under its own flag? As a Russian Federation team? Yes, they will. I am personally against any kind of collective responsibility. I think the sportsmen and sportswomen who never had personally any problems with doping should be able to start, So 12 clean volleyball players from Russia should play as Russia. Maria Lasitskene got robbed in Rio, I like Ruth Beitia very much, but the gold medal should go to Lasitskene, if she had competed, she would have won it IMHO. In Tokyo Lasitskene should be able to start and still will be a main favourite. Anyway, Russia will appeal their ban to CAS and I am pretty sure that they will be successfull in their appeal. On the other hand, I think there should be a rule made by IOC that a spotsmen who violated antidoping rules should be banned from olympics for lifetime. E.g. Justin Gatin may get few years ban from IAAF and then he can start in the World Champs. But he will never start in olympics anymore, I couldn't stand looking at Rio 2016 - Yelena Isinbayeva couldn't compete. But Yuliya Yefimova could swim. It didn't make any sense. So when I will be making my predictions here (for medals), I always put a question mark on a sportsmen who IMHO shoudn't participate at all. 2. https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1080455/fivb-calls-for-polands-kubiak-to-apologise-after-being-suspended-for-anti-iranian-remarks How the POLAND - IRAN match will look like? Will it be played fair? In Rio Poland won 3-2 but after the last point there were very sad situations on the pitch. I hope they will not repeat this time. Oh, it will be a tough match for Poland. But what I like the most, is that after the game there will be no more scenes like Rio. Everybody will behave and act normal. Even Michał Kubiak. After POL-IRI clash, a great game USA-FRA. US will not be able to stop N'Gapeth for 4 sets but in the 5th they will finally find a way to do it. Great games POL-IRI and FRA-USA starting from 7.40 pm Tokyo time and two 5-setters in the row, so it will end at 1 p.m. or sth. A nice start for a volleyball tournament. FOOTBALL - Women's Tournament teams with * haven't qualified yet group A JAPAN - SWEDEN 2-1 NEW ZEALAND - CANADA 1-3 1. Japan 6 4-1 2. Canada 4 4-2 3. Sweden 1 2-3 4. It is the first USA - CHINA clash in these games. These two nations will probably be 1 and 2 in medal table, so it is very interesting. YES, IT WILL BE A GREAT GAME. 2-2 and then in 90th minute a free kick for USA will win the game. A very tense game, and then Megan Rapinoe and her interviews ;-) TENNIS - Men's Singles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification And on day 1 only the top half is playing (from Djokovic to Medvedev). Kyrgios wins first set and plays fantastic, then a very close second set which Medvedev wins in a tie-break. In third Medvedev breaks for 3-2 and then KYRGIOS implodes heavily. He can;t behave and he can't lose. He breaks all the rules on how to behave on the court. And I must say Medvedev is not much better, like in US OPEN 2019. Anyway, Medvedev wins 6-2 in 3rd set, Kyrgios doesn't shake hands and at the end behaves badly against public and goes home. ITF and ATP are thinking about excluding him from Tour for some time. Tomorrow second half will be playing: GRE Stefanos Tsitsipas (6) – USA Sam Querrey FRA Benoit Paire – POL Hubert Hurkacz CZE Jiri Vesely – SWE Mikael Ymer FRA Adrian Mannarino – ITA Fabio Fognini (11) RUS Andrey Rublev (14) – USA Reilly Opelka AUS John Millman – SRB Miomir Kecmanovic USA Taylor Fritz – AUS Jordan Thompson BRA Joao Menezes – AUT Dominic Thiem (3) GER Alexander Zverev (7) – GBR Andy Murray CHI Christian Garin – POR Joao Sousa FRA Ugo Humbert – SLO Aljaz Bedene UZB Denis Istomin – BEL David Goffin (10) RUS Karen Khachanov (15) – ESP Pablo Carrena Busta CAN Milos Raonic – JPN Kei Nishikori PNG Matthew Stubbings – USA John Isner GBR Daniel Evans – ESP Rafael Nadal (2) More still to come :-) I wonder if you like what I wrote and if you agree with my predictions. 16. Let;s pretend this is day 1, July 25th 2020 https://tokyo2020.org/en/schedule/20200725-schedule SO THINGS ARE GETTING SERIOUS NOW!!! It is day 1, everybody is still talking about the breathtaking opening ceremony last night. But the games are starting and a lot of action is going on. This is too much to put it in one post. So from day 1 I will divide every day into a few posts, starting from the disciplines I like the most and I hope my predictions will be more accurate or starting from the sports which are easy to write about. Let's go! What are your predictions for: VOLLEYBALL - Men's Tournament https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volleyball_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Men's_tournament Pool A ITALY - CANADA JAPAN - VENEZUELA POLAND - IRAN Pool B BRAZIL - TUNISIA RUSSIA - ARGENTINA UNITED STATES - FRANCE General questions: 1. Will Russia start under its own flag? As a Russian Federation team? 2. https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1080455/fivb-calls-for-polands-kubiak-to-apologise-after-being-suspended-for-anti-iranian-remarks How the POLAND - IRAN match will look like? TENNIS - Men's Singles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification I used the qualifying criteria from wiki. I only didn't use the rule which mentions Davis Cup starts and so, this was too difficult for me. So Top 56 from ATP rankings, (only 4 players from one National Olympic Committee (NOC)), 6 continental places, Andy Murray ;-) and one from Japan. Then I made a draw ;-) And on day 1 only the top half is playing (from Djokovic to Medvedev). What are your predictions? SRB Novak Djokovic (1) - GEO Nikoloz Basilashvili CRO Borna Coric - MDA Radu Albot ESP Albert Ramos-Vinolas - KAZ Alexander Bublik JPN Yoshihito Nishioka – CAN Denis Shapovalov (16) FRA Gael Monfils (9) – EGY Mohamed Safwat CHI Tomas Barrios – ARG Guido Pella SRB Dusan Lajovic - GER Jan-Lennard Struff ITA Lorenzo Sonego – ITA Matteo Berrettini (8) SUI Roger Federer (4) – GBR Kyle Edmund JPN Yuichi Sugita – SRB Filip Krajinovic CRO Marin Cilic – ARG Juan Ignacio Londero CAN Felix Auger-Aliassime – ARG Diego Schwartman (13) ESP Roberto Bautista Agut (12) – NOR Casper Ruud BUL Grigor Dimitrov – URU Pablo Cuevas SUI Stan Wawrinka – AUS Alex de Minaur AUS Nick Kyrgios – RUS Daniil Medvedev (5) GRE Stefanos Tsitsipas (6) – USA Sam Querrey FRA Benoit Paire – POL Hubert Hurkacz CZE Jiri Vesely – SWE Mikael Ymer FRA Adrian Mannarino – ITA Fabio Fognini (11) RUS Andrey Rublev (14) – USA Reilly Opelka AUS John Millman – SRB Miomir Kecmanovic USA Taylor Fritz – AUS Jordan Thompson BRA Joao Menezes – AUT Dominic Thiem (3) GER Alexander Zverev (7) – GBR Andy Murray CHI Christian Garin – POR Joao Sousa FRA Ugo Humbert – SLO Aljaz Bedene UZB Denis Istomin – BEL David Goffin (10) RUS Karen Khachanov (15) – ESP Pablo Carrena Busta CAN Milos Raonic – JPN Kei Nishikori PNG Matthew Stubbings – USA John Isner GBR Daniel Evans – ESP Rafael Nadal (2) More still to come :-) Have a good Sunday, olympic freaks ;-) Stay healthy, stay home!
  17. Here are my predictions for day 0, July 24th 2020 https://tokyo2020.org/en/schedule/20200724-schedule OPENING CEREMONY WHO WILL BE YOUR COUNTRY'S FLAG BEARER? Maja Włoszczowska - Cycling MTB - two times olympic silver medalists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maja_Włoszczowska a huge star in Poland, a very nice person her race is on Tuesday 28th, so she will already be in Tokyo and she will have few days to rest and prepare before she has her competition WHO WILL LIT THE OLYMPIC CAULDRON? I think it will be a group of young sportsmen and sportswomen who survived earthquake, tsunami and Fukushima reactor catastrophy. No names here. WILL THE CEREMONY BE INTERESTING OR BORING? It will be very interesting, one of the best ever. And I know I am in minority here - but i really LOVE parade of the nations. It is not boring for me at all. For me it can last even two hours. Looking for sport stars in every nation, all the familiar faces, checking out who has the best clothing and so... I LOVE IT. and: ARCHERY – Women’s Individual Ranking Round ARCHERY – Men’s Individual Ranking Round https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archery_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification I am not into archery actually. So And there are heats in rowing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rowing_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification These are only heats so I will focus on Polish rowers only. 20. You are right, my mistake, thank you that you have noticed that. So the correct questions should be: Let;s pretend this is day -1, July 23rd What are your predictions for: SOFTBALL – Women’s Tournament https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Softball_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Qualification UNITED STATES – CANADA MEXICO – JAPAN ITALY – AUSTRALIA FOOTBALL – Men’s Tournament (after my personal draw, including FIFA ranking, and there is a rule that only 1 team from 1 continental federation in 1 group) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_–_Men's_qualification The qualifications haven't finished yet, I say UNITED STATES and MEXICO will qualify from CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship Group A JAPAN – ROMANIA MEXICO* – NEW ZEALAND Group B FRANCE – UNITED STATES* AUSTRALIA – IVORY COAST Group C BRAZIL – SAUDI ARABIA GERMANY – EGYPT Group D SPAIN – SOUTH AFRICA KOREA REPUBLIC – ARGENTINA General questions: which players older than 23 years will take part in the olympics tournament? 23. day -2, July 22nd My predictions for: 1/. SOFTBALL - Women's tournament Australia - Japan 2 Italy - United States 2 Mexico - Canada 2 Playing softball games(opening event for the whole olympics) in Fukushima is a GREAT idea. It is safe out there after the earthquake and damaged reactor. These softball games will be a huge success to show the world that it is safe and clear over there. Full stadium of spectators on the AUS-JPN opening game, including Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. 2./ FOOTBALL - Women's tournament group A Japan - New Zealand 2-0 Sweden - Canada 1-1 group B United States - Great Britain 3-1 China - Chile 3-0 group C Netherlands - Brazil 2-1 Australia - Zambia 3-0 Megan Rapinoe be one of the greatest stars of the Tokyo Olympics. Her postmatch interviews will be hilarious. A lot of interesting statements. The player who will score the most goals in opening matches - Sam Kerr, Australia (2 goals against Zambia) What do you think, my friends? Could it all go that way?
  24. Yes, I totally agree with you. But I hope that in late July things will get sth close to normal in my job, and that means I will have to work twice as hard as usually (beacuse of all the delays and interruptions which are happening now) and I think I will not have time for discussing on totallympics.com ;-) Now I have more free time.
