  1. 'Abortion should be illegal, even in case of incest and/or rape, because without incest and rape there might not be a human race nowadays.' https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49349794 Yay rape, yay incest
  2. One might assume it makes it easier to train for hours and hours.
  3. South American distance champion as well (with a fall on the bottom part of a downhill right before a climb, meaning she had to enter the climb with 0 speed as opposed to the rest who raced down and had extra speed going up) https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=34160 Sad for Gabi though. The South American distance title was supposed to be handed out today in the 5k freestyle, but for whatever reasons the Argentinian local team (and organizers) decided only a few days ago it'd be in the 5k classic. She barely trained classic technique though, focussing on the freestyle since that's where the medals would be awarded. Meanwhile, Spanish-trained Manex Silva is on an absolute tear at the junior competitions, utterly destroying all the Brazil-trained Brazilians. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=34163 I'm not saying the training programs in Brazil don't seem to be working, but they sure don't seem to be functioning properly.
  4. I like how people have been making a big deal out of this, even going so far as to suggest UEFA is trying to destroy men's football
  5. Well, some nation has to be And it'd be unfair to give the title to a nation with not even half a million people or something
  6. Me too. Which is why I usually switch off when the women's floor event starts, because half of the time they're just making weird 'dance' moves. Like standing there and flapping their arms around. Honestly I think 'a tragedy for the sport' is a rather big exaggeration if anyone with a different skillset wins (in my opinion, the only winners who are tragedies for the sport as convincted dopers and/or pure assholes). I'm not gonna cheer for her simply because of the flag though. It's about sports and athletes, not about which flag is next to one's name.
  7. Why they're there is just as much of a mystery for me as why the Russians are there
  8. I think Admiral Vladivostok is going to be my new favourite ice hockey team, because that name just rules the world. Admiral Vladivostok at your service
  9. The 2nd worst nation in Olympic history (in my opinion) according to an article I once wrote thanks to Olympic-reference's stats https://frontpage.fok.nl/special/717955/7/1/50/de-slechtste-landen-ooit-op-de-olympische-spelen.html Bangladesh was the number one worst nation in history. Based on results, inhabitants and so on. But I digress.
  10. This gave me the hardest laugh of the day Even my arms were less salty after two hours of hard cycling in the sun today.
  11. Not yet, still got Villars, Chamonix and Briançon to go (that's three times lead and two times speed) before starting with the World Championships (after finishing Vail, where I've got two boulders to watch) I like watching things in order so I avoid spoilers
  12. 130 athletes in Sunday's Ushuaia Loppet (part of the Worldloppet Tour, like the Vasaloppet) The real skiers start in the 50k, of course.
  13. At least that one has some sort of a melody in it Instead of just hours and hours of the same monotonous tone
  14. I'm watching the Vail boulder World Cup at the moment and I have literally never watched an event where the choice of 'music' is so insanely poor. It's (literally!) just 4 hours of monotonous 'boom boom boom boom boom boomboomboom boom boom boom boom'. Holy crap, this is shitty. I want to listen to the commentary, but man is it hard to not get incredibly nervous just because of this 'music'. The fuck man.
  15. My favourite and most tense thread on Totallympics at the moment, let's go!
  16. Much like for Madiea Ghafoor, I think recent developments are pretty much evidence of that, yes.
  17. And Ajax (you know, semifinalists last season) got damn close When it was 3-2 in the last few minutes and in the very last attack PAOK entered the penalty area (or got close), I already got flashbacks of the semi of last year with Tottenham stealing the win in literally the very last seconds
  18. You're forgetting the reigning Olymic champion Who knows, weird stuff can happen again
  19. Right, here we go. The original plan was simple: competitions in Portillo (Chile) and Bariloche (Argentina), resulting in a ranking based on points and the South American champions being decided by this ranking. However, in came the weather! Or not, actually. There was not enough snow in Portillo, and the fake snow they created melted away. The whole thing then got replaced to Rio Blanco (Chile), which has a homologated track for.....cross-biathlon. Yes, that is running and shooting, instead of skiing and shooting. And yes, that is what will partially decide the South American championships rankings in biathlon, even though it's not biathlon. The sheer stupidity is too much. It does explain how the South Americans managed to stay so close to some of Russia's best IBU Cup athletes (because yes, apparently for whatever reason there were some Russians there) The results of (in order), the mass start, sprint and pursuit:
  20. And from Russians, no less! I never saw that coming.
  21. Which is published by Dutch NOS. It even still has his phone number, in case you'd like to place an order @Olympian1010
  22. What's up with a gazillion walkovers here today?
