  1. On the bright side, at least Liendo won't get another shameful bronze, 4th or 5th!
  2. These WR cheques at a world championships feel like this is some whateveristhecurrentleague event instead of a big championships
  3. Rightfully so, that was an awesome race!
  4. And this one is on my free day, so an extra nice one please (kinda feels like I should get a nice finals session as a reward after our 105km bike ride this morning ) Although so far the finals sessions are all nice
  5. Yeah, the interview with Dutch TV was rather short and remained limited to "I need to train harder, and train more", and then he started walking away.
  6. The only thing to improve, but that will never happen anymore, is getting rid of the WR line, which takes away the tension one used to have about whether or not the WR would be broken
  7. Interesting, thanks. I was wondering for a while, since the English-language commentators pronounce it that way all the time, but also English-language commentators are rather well-known for completely mispronouncing names (not like having an accent, because that's normal, but messing up entire syllables and such) Cool to see this time the English-language commentators are actually correct
  8. Down goes the hype train.
  9. Out of curiousity, is it 'Popovici', with the i being pronounced at the end, or 'Popovich', with the i not being pronounced?
  10. Makes sense, considering the amount of Olympic medals one can win in that event
  11. That trumpet intro for the Chinese anthem always was and always will be fantastic
  12. In other words, absolutely perfect distribution of his energy
  13. Pretend to be from Sweden or Canada and watch on SVT or CBC
  14. After Kamminga's months and months of (COVID-related) troubles, and barely starting to train not long ago, this is really winning silver instead of losing gold
  15. That would definitely be the wisest decision, I would say She's good on the road, but like you said: no Hungarian teammates, whereas in the regular races she is in the team that is a gazillion times stronger than any women's team has ever been basically, so plenty of good teammates there
  16. No idea about qualifying pathways and such, but in terms of quality Vas would definitely be able to do so. It's of course significantly harder in the men's events, but even there it wouldn't be impossible for the likes of Pidcock or Van der Poel (but probably doing both would be bad for their chances in both, whereas combining them in a strong way might be a bit 'easier' for the women). It's still not super common though, but Ferrand Prevot, Vas, Rissveds and surely some others would at least be capable of competing in both at the Olympics.
  17. Apparently ending his career in a team that's so unprofessional, they were/are riding with (partially) two year old bikes/equipment... https://sporza.be/nl/2023/07/22/verbijstering-over-2-jaar-oude-cranks-van-peter-sagan-wraakroepend-in-2023~1690056185058/ He deserved a better ending than disappearing into nowhere at one of those anonymous French teams, but at least there is the memories of a whole lot better than this (specifically the solo wins ).
  18. What a sprint by Meeus Jasper Disaster beaten at last
  19. And another massive WR I know in athletics it's the shoes in middle and longer distances especially these days, what is the thing in swimming? Is it the suits that always keep improving that much, considering the massive amount of WR's we so often see specifically in swimming?
  20. And the first one to start a standing ovation when Marchand was on his way to break his WR after 15 years
  21. Three DQ's in one race Good to see apparently the underwater rules are finally actually enforced?
  22. Might as well give him next year's gold already
  23. Thank you! I'll look at it better later, but a quick look suggests that is exactly what I was looking for
