  1. That's the goal The first plan was to go nearly all-out on the first half of the 5k lap, which is mostly a very long uphill, trying to stay in the front of the wave group (14 athletes) and maybe catch 1-2 athletes in front, then just try and see how much energy there's left for the second part (which has a downhill, tiny barely noticeable uphill, downhill, flat, downhill, flat, finish). At the team captain's meeting they said they won't do the 5k lap however, but two laps on a different, 2.5k course. It's easier, with only the uphill at the beginning, but it also means the plans had to be adjusted a bit
  2. Video 2A --> At 8:45 first we see Confortola closing in on Bruna and in the scene after that we see the reason why Andree-Anne Theberge didn't finish the race, she collapsed..luckily she got back on her feet after that, being helped off by a Russian team official.
  3. Making some readily watchable highlights is an art in itself, because having two 23-25 minute videos with only highlights about the day might be a bit long... But at least it shows a lot
  4. It's just as much nonsense as having both the sprint and pursuit as separate medal events in biathlon, even at the Olympics And as for the XC pursuit tomorrow: basically what you've got now is like a shorter version of a skiathlon, only with a day of rest in between instead of a ski exchange
  5. So far I am kind of disappointed by the amount of photos and especially videos that are available. All I found in terms of videos was some very general things on FISU's YouTube channel and video's of press conferences on Almaty's official channels, but that's it...no highlights of the specific sports or even rewatching the events on livefisu.tv or anything..
  6. Second gold for Jeroen Kampschreur in the sitting category, apparently we have a 17-year old superstar one year before the Paralympics
  7. Interview with Bruna https://almaty2017.com/media/blogs/2017/01/30/bruna-moura-kogda-govoryu,-chto-ya-lyizhnicza,-eto-vosprinimaetsya-s-udivleniem/
  8. Italy is on the other side of the street: And we've got Switzerland in building 3
  9. Apparently they've put the South American bloc together, because Brazil is in the same building as Argentina and Chile and they've put a rather large team in the building as well Brazil is in the little green dot at the right: There are some more nations in there, but our informant will check that after a very much deserved nap
  10. Well that's it for today, just some curling and ice hockey group games left, but there's no medals in that
  11. No Russian gold in the women's parallel giant slalom
  12. Sten-Mark Virro....I wonder if his parents gave him that name on purpose
  13. I wonder if the Ukrainians have ever skied a super-G before It's like they were very, very afraid.
  14. Italy very much on their way to their first gold (men's super-G)
  15. And that's it for Armenia's medal hopes today.
  16. Eurosport loves the Universiade, they basically always show a ton of evens (in the winter even more than in the summer if I'm not mistaken)
  17. Russian gold and silver, nobody saw that coming
  18. I wonder where Glavatshkikh and Mayngardt are, they should have passed some times long ago 99% sure Mayngardt is there since Bruna was training with her yesterday and 100% sure Glavatshkikh is there since they actually showed her. Edit: There's Glavatshkikh
  19. Bruna's second half of the race was impressive, she barely lost any time to the leader and won a very good deal of time on the athletes around her Edit: I see I was a little bit mistaken seeing as Confortola was 26 seconds behind the 2.6km leader Still, nice job
  20. All of the Iranian female skiers didn't start
