  1. If you only look at world championships, yes, but quite often the stronger/better time trials are for example in Grand Tours and it's not uncommon to see Dutch riders in the top-10 there for a long time, it's more like there have been a few years that were worse than normal Well in women's cycling there's a bit less specialisation, so it is (or at least was) a bit more common to see the main contenders also fight for ITT medals than in the men's races. And Dutch women have been either the top nation or the 2nd nation in cycling for a long time so seeing Van Vleuten and/or Van der Breggen on the podium now isn't that surprising, something like that was just a matter of time As for the men, there have always been decent time trialists (Clement, Westra, Boom, Breukink etc), just now there is one who is actually among the 2-3 best in the world
  2. What a show from Elena Pirrone
  3. The French girls really don't give a damn.
  4. Since the Netherlands is simply one of the better cycling countries? Dumoulin now is kind of a new level, but there have been decent Dutch time trial riders for years (just like decent Dutch GC riders, classic riders and B-sprinters).
  5. Italy chasing Italy in the women's junior race, brilliant tactics
  6. Big, big yes for this idea please And not some 'meh we have to go to Africa so let's go to South Africa' kind of excuse, no, please go to Rwanda with the Wall of Kigali where thousands and thousands of people are screaming every year during the Tour of Rwanda
  7. Dude's on fire, Michel Macedo has the 'Brazilian FIS points record' in 4 of the 5 alpine skiing disciplines now, this time breaking records from 2008 and 2006! http://www.cbdn.org.br/cbdn2/colecionador-de-recordes-michel-macedo-quebra-duas-novas-marcas-brasileiras-no-ski-alpino/ He seems to be the main contender for Brazil's Olympic ticket more and more, surpassing Guillerme Grahn
  8. By searching on Google for 'vancouver 2010 medals'.
  9. Annemiek van Vleuten (brand new world champion in the ITT on the road) will participate in the European track champs and try to qualify for next year's world champs. She's also taking a jump in the field, riding the cyclo-cross Superprestige in Gieten.
  10. +1 for a championship for small countries, but 'world championships'? Then what, the winner is 'The World Champion of Small Countries'? No no no no. That Innsbruck course I mean, everyone knew it was going to be hugely tough obviously (duh, it's Innsbruck), but this looks cool
  11. That's such a bit of 'bullshit'...I sort of understand people taking women's football less serious when something basic like the scheduling is of such a low level. Come on, it can't be that hard. Step up the game to the level of men's World Cup qualifying..
  12. Men's Baseball MLB 2017 National Championship - 2 April 2017 - 1 October 2017 Totallympics Results Thread
  13. Cookson has been entirely invisible apart from the first weeks of his presidency..
  14. One American mom had too much time apparently. She was watching the children's cartoon Maya the Bee and OH MY GOD THAT'S A DRAWN PENIS!!1!!! All hell broke loose, social media shit storm because of course this is nothing less than hardcore porn!!1!!! Netflix has now even gone so far as to remove the entire episode because of this Why are people nowadays so....strange? Oh, here is the screenshot, but mind you, it is absolutely Not Suitable For Work, you might get fired for watching the porn in this spoiler.
  15. Yep Although I do like that at least the shape is like that of a normal medal, not some 'look at us, we are creative!' hipster kind of thing
  16. What's up with teams having already played 2 matches, while other teams in the same group haven't played one match yet? Someone didn't finish their online course in basic scheduling?
  17. Better than those 'a truck ran over them but let's still use them anyway' medals from Vancouver 2010
  18. Definitely some people who are just normal sports fans instead of diehard sports fans, and suddenly have someone in a team competition (in one of the likely few teams like this) I still see no way how this is worse than kicking out great events in favour of gender equality pushing mixed events.
  19. By the way, if we're comparing with the Ancient Olympics, we might as well also throw out women entirely, throw out the use of clothes and stop professionals from competing (although I'm not sure the Greek competitors were considered amateurs) Half the tickets were free back then, so that's a good thing to go back to
  20. If this was about many events and, more importantly, the entire event (as in, most teams would be mixed teams), I would agree
  21. That's what I thought, but then they kicked out perfectly fine slalom canoeing and shooting events and replaced them with booooring stuff because the gender equality police will, at all cost, get what they want.
  22. Nope. Adding way too many mixed team events in every sport imaginable (and in doing so, 'deleting' good individual events or good single-gender events) is closer to being the worst idea the IOC ever had, much worse than an event in which unqualified nations could theoretically form a few teams.
