Yeah, for people who aren't too interested in the decathlon this isn't a great session. Personally I am actually very happy with it, so often the decathlon has to make do with like 5 minutes of attention in between replays of heats where people run 11.50 in a 100m and qualifyings of triple jumps of 13 meters or something, so great to finally see some full decathlon action Plus there already was the marathon, I've been entertained with athletics already since I woke up, it's something else than all the field stuff being ignored because of a billion running heats

It won't matter in the sense that it's not going to provide athletics with any advantage, correct. In other words, there is simply no need to remove any of the current events.

That sounds awful Like any big city marathon wants to be turned into a slow championship race.... And again this insanely stupid idea of 'if we take away certain events, we will attract a wider audience'. No, you absolute fuckwit, people who don't like athletics will not suddenly start liking athletics if there's no hammer throw and 5k anymore. That will just be half an hour less of athletics for them not to watch. Just like people who didn't like the 50k race walk are not suddenly now watching the 35k race walk. It's just 15km less race walking that they don't watch.

It's the opposite for me: I would believe not cancelling the entire Games, but come on, immediately continueing the opening ceremony with fireworks and everything? On the other hand, if thousands of people were already in the stadium, cancelling the whole thing might have just caused more trouble with everyone leaving in a panic...
