  1. Now that's a nice stat. And India becomes .... nation with a gold medal?
  2. And not even the adrenaline-boosting ones
  3. How does an event where one can easily win while barely being able to jump over the rather low obstacles still keep it's right on the Olympic program? If any event must be cut, surely the steeple is high on the list? Just to clarify: I don't want any event to be cut
  4. Just realized the 'otunekko' I've been hearing at the end of commercials on Eurosport all week is actually someone apparently saying "Outrun your echo" Whoops.
  5. Meanwhile it's vs with weapons, which is not normally a good thing, but luckily this time it's slightly friendlier
  6. Moraa Awesome final, the last session is off to a good start
  7. Mu thinking it's race walking. You can run and try to go fast, you know
  8. A quick YouTube search suggests in 1983 it was decided quite early indeed, like often is the case in the usual African 'up the pace higher and higher and wait for nobody to be left' races Definitely wasn't a thrilling final with a decision in the last meters like today
  9. Ah, a Dutch forum is not the only place where Jakob Ingebrigtsen is seen as a bit of an act, I see
  10. Ingebrigtsen with the win, very cool sprint with Katir though. Grijalva just outside of the medals
  11. Since when is the Giro the weakest? They definitely have their organizational issues, as is typical in many Italian races, but in terms of organization....Vuelta is the one that is mostly staying behind. At least we are sort of out of the era with a billion _______/ stages, but for example TV coverage (often in typical quality) not even being available at all for the first 1-2 hours of most stages...come on, it's not 2001 anymore Even the Giro has full coverage nowadays.
  12. Definitely better than the first option, although we're now getting to the point where it might be better to just not have any time gaps at all. It is slightly worrying that this is becoming more and more of a trend in cycling.
  13. Super wet in Barcelona, so they came with a safety solution: times for the GC will be taken at the top of the Montjuic climb, around 3.5km before the finish. However, bonus seconds will count both at the top of the climb and at the finish. This is going to make things more dangerous, but I guess that's what they want. The issue is mostly the way to the climb: full of roundabouts, and narrow roads with lots of turns, where there will now be basically a massive sprint right through all that to get to the foot of the climb in an even better position. Smart! We're now going to get this mix: - Riders who sprint to the top for the bonus seconds and points - Riders who sprint to the top because for them, that's where the finish is - Riders who throw themselves downhill to go for the stage win and will have to pass riders who don't care anymore Can't go wrong.
  14. Tamirat Tola with the most expected DNF for a world champion ever, although it's somewhat surprising (and certain people aren't going to be happy with it) that he kept going for that long
  15. Looked like contact with Kiplagat, who seemed injured from then on.
  16. Just turned the TV on and of course, who else, Ser-Od Bat-Ochir in the early attack As is tradition. Awesome runner
  17. Meanwhile the team time trial stage 1 is done and it was a ridiculous affair, the late start is always tricky, but if it's a super rainy evening....yeah. It was dry basically all day, but they had to wait for it to rain and get so dark one would normally be fined for riding without a light.
  18. This sentence really is a rollercoaster. First makes you think "Oh, finally, took some time but at least they're going after that asswhipe", but then you read "against Hermoso" It's amazing how a single federation (and probably like 5 people, undoubtedly close buddies of the president) can make a historic World Cup victory be forgotten in barely a week.
  19. What's that thing with countries having a mediocre event and the ministry of all things comes in and demands and explanation? That sounds so....North Korea-esque What are the leaders of the athletics federation going to say? "They didn't jump high enough and didn't run fast enough"?
  20. And the slow motion of Richardson's face during her race is one of my highlights of the championships, pure art
  21. First three Dutch runners with a fantastic run, but Jiya was away way too early. She nearly left at the starting gun shot
