  1. The unavoidable 10 minute longer walk around after he wins, yes, but other than that, no
  2. Ooooh yes, Sjöström's career deserves this so hard
  3. I'm not even Guatemalan at all and emotionally speaking this is probably going to be my favourite moment of the entire Olympics Not just because of it being Guatemala's first ever, but also the entire history, with a spinal injury, her dad passing away, everything!
  4. And now she starts missing, but who cares
  5. Gooooold! Oh wow what a moment
  6. Understandable though, given her situation there.
  7. Ruano 'only' needs to hit 7 of the last 10 to be sure of gold, come on! Sports history please
  8. And that's a sure silver at least
  9. In Tokyo Ruano participated four weeks after her father died, because that's what he would have wanted. And now she gets an Olympic medal of all things
  10. And she went from volleyball to shooting?
  11. And that's the third ever medal for , second in two days
  12. Spain is now badly regretting ever giving Guatemala up.
  13. And that's why such a start is great, you can afford a nervy miss
  14. Yeah, this entire shotgun part of the sport of shooting just seems lots more....I don't know, active
  15. Ruano the only one with a clean first series of 5 shots
  16. Not the smoothest of starts for Galvez.
  17. Oh I agree But that is, unfortunately, how it works...
  18. Because you need a winner. In professional boxing, it could be a draw, which is always unfortunate, but a valid result. Here it can't, because if it's a draw, nobody can progress to the next round. So if you're a judge and you have your paper in front of you that says 28-28, you need to choose whoever you think was the winner (separate from whatever the other judges have scored).
  19. With San Marino en Lebanon sadly out, I think apart from the one wrestler these were their only chances?
  20. Does 3 positions still use that odd format, where kneeling and prone are for everyone, but then standing is the position that decides everything?
  21. Yeah no idea, it was just the only mathematical explanation I could think of that would 'work' (kind of) I'm very much already preparing myself for tonight, when Heijnen loses and so I will have to say she got robbed.
  22. Not sure, but doesn't a judge need to give someone the win on his/her scorecard in the case of a draw, because in tournament formats you can't have something like a majority draw? No idea whether or not the decision is fair of course, but that would explain what I would assume is a 3-2 win, with three judges having it a draw and then going for red as the better of the two.
  23. Too bad it was so close, but still, near-flawless day for in Paris, two potential medals, gold and silver as result.
