  1. The 1988 men's 100m final is already known by that name
  2. Taking a look at those results from London, with Cakir Alptekin, Bulut, Tomashova and so on, boy that was a trip down doping memory lane
  3. He can grip things without too much power. Like, he eats by himself (but with someone cutting the harder parts like meat), but he doesn't hold a glass/cup with a drink in it (straws are used for that). I think tossing a ball isn't really going to go great, but a ramp might be an option then. I'll see if they're interested in giving it a try, they live in one of the bigger cities in the Netherlands so who knows, maybe there's an opportunity nearby (I'm going to assume we don't have like 50 boccia clubs all over the country ).
  4. Still more than me though I'm wondering if this is playable if basically all you can move is your arms, but to quite a limited extent. That's the situation for my sister's boyfriend, who can basically just move his arms due to a muscle disease (and only very limited, like he can't put on a jacket or even a hat by himself or something). Would be cool if this is something he can do
  5. What would be the minimum requirements one needs to play boccia, in terms of being able to move? Asking you because you seem to watch it quite a bit
  6. Right, I thought you meant they have performed disappointingly so far No idea actually, definitely one of the nations that are clearly better at Olympic than Paralympic events (the opposite of a country like Ukraine I guess).
  7. What are the events in which they have 'dropped the ball' so far, so to speak? No idea who the favourites are in most events, so it may just as well be that they're actually performing as expected and just didn't really have any medal favourites in action yet
  8. Why do some of the tricycle riders have someone behind them on a regular bike, while others do not?
  9. I assume by now it's been mentioned, but I hadn't come across this so I thought I'd mention it to be sure: that 100m gold is a DQ now I'm curious about the behind the scenes there though. He would of course not be the first able-bodied athlete who loses a limb, eyesight or something and has to switch to para sports (I mean, I'm living with an athlete who in a matter of weeks lost half the vision in one of her eyes this year due to a parasite, which may come back at any moment in life and might force a switch to para sports if things get bad, so I can kind of imagine how fast things can in fact go in terms of losing abilities). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serkan_Yıldırım Seems like the DQ is more about the process and proper procedures not having yet been followed than him beeing deemed an actual fraud by the IPC?
  10. So many reigning Olympic champions are participating in these Paralympic Games, who knew. At least according to the Paralympic channel's own commentator teams
  11. I'm the opposite of a legal expert, so: they can even just get everything, then go 'we wont renew the contract but you still cant use the info'? I get not being allowed to use it during the duration of the contract, but afterwards...?
  12. Of course always easy to say without being involved, but if selling such a database, I'd personally definitely have kept a copy on my computer
  13. Even here in we are, to say it with a sense of understatement, not thrilled. That should tell enough
  14. Crash for Van Aert on a wet descent and that's it for one of the main guys who kept this Vuelta entertaining.
  15. Rebecca Cheptegei, 44th in the Paris Olympics marathon, was covered in gasoline and set on fire by her partner/husband/father of their children in Kenya, the umpteenth case of violence between 'partners' there... She's apparently in bad condition in the hospital.
  16. Judging by almost all previous contests, I have plenty of faith that many users will end up joining and we'll get to 30+ nations again
  17. Yep, easily the biggest shame in Olympic archival history Olympedia is/was so amazing and the work all these people have put in it for so many years is incredible, only for the IOC to go and say "nah, thanks man" and leave it in the dust
  18. Sadly it was also the last world championships race for Greg Minnaar, one of the all-time greats and even world champion as recent as three years ago.
  19. Wow, Lahna's blade with a special space above it for his actual leg, cool
  20. I had not seen a notification with 0 before, usually when there are no notifications there is no number
  21. You don't get what I mean, because I see I slightly miswrote a word: 'with' should have been 'without', minor difference 'Olympic ice hockey without NHL players is like the junior men's Olympic football tournament' is what I meant. My bad! Like, sure, it's a gold medal to be won, but without any of the star players basically.
  22. 3 One women's race and two men's races. For now you can kind of keep an eye on the women's timing only, since not much is happening there yet.
  23. Interesting contrast, for me the Annual is usually way harder, because I'm always out of touch with what the recent songs are or even who the Dutch artists are (since most of them have English stage names anyway)
  24. Is this sure, by now? It feels like companies like NHL and NBA change their mind about this every month or so Definitely hope so though, Olympic ice hockey with NHL players is like the junior men's Olympic football tournament.
  25. The four PTWC2 athletes making up the entire top-4 of the PTWC triathlon may suggest that maybe the 3 minute compensation time is a bit too little (I know one of the PTWC1 athletes would have been 4th, but he got DQ'ed)
