  1. In Poland there's a law that no NF president can serve longer than two terms of 4 years. Isn't that a government interference?
  2. Team of Germany won the gold medal at the Eventing World Championships in Pratoni del Vivaro. Along with six other teams they newly crowned champions took the Olympic quota for Paris 2024 in both - team and individual event for their team members. After the dressage test it was the British team to lead the team classification, but during the cross country London 52 ridden by Laura Collett made a run out at one of the obstacles, which resulted in a massive points loss and brought Collett from the 2nd place individually to just 48th, becoming the weakest part of the British team. That made them fall to the third place, behind Germany and USA, with 7,4 points of advantage over New Zealand. However the jumping test brough 16 penalties to Oliver Townend on Ballaghmor Class, bringing the Brits out of podium. The gold was taken by the German team, USA was second and New Zealand took the bronze, while the Olympic quotas went also to the teams of Great Britain, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland. Individually it was Michael Jung to lead the field after cross country, but he made two knockdowns, falling of thepodium. A clear ride gave the silver to his teammate, Julia Krajewski, but she lost to Yasmin Ingham - the sole Brit not entered to the team event. Bronze was taken by Tim Price of New Zealand - finishing the event with the same result as Rosalind Canter from Team GB, but coming closer to the time limit to the finish line of the cross country. 3. The victory of Sweden crowned the team competition of the FEI Jumping World Championships. The reigning Olympic Champions finished the 2nd competition of the event with only one counted knockdown. After the Wednesday speed competiton Sweden was leading with 3,69 pts ahead of France (5,44) and Belgium (5,49). They made a clear 1st round of the Friday's competition after deducting the sole knockdown of Malin Baryar-Johnsson riding H&M Indiana (the pair was also the weakest in the team in the speed competition with 7,77). France also made a clear 1st round with deduction of 12 points by Gregory Cottard on Bibici. The 2nd round was, however, a tragedy for Les Bleus with 4 points of Simon Delestre on Cayman Jolly Jumper, another 9 points of Gregory Cottard, 8 points of the individual leader so far, Julien Epaillard on Caracole de la Roque and the deducted 12 points of Kevin Staut on Scuderia 1918 Viking d'la Rousserie. That made them fall down to sixth - which would mean missing the Olympic spot, if they haven't been qualified as hosts already. That was used by the Swedish team - even though they had to count another four points of Baryard-Johnson as their leader, Peder Fredricson on H&M All IN made three knockdowns, the won by a solid margin over the team of Netherlands (despite them having 6 points counted alltogether in the 2nd round) and the Brits (with 8 points in both 1st an 2nd round on Friday). The remaining two Olympic quotas went to Ireland and Germany - especially disappointed with 13 points in the 2nd round (8 by Marcus Ehning on Stargold, 4 by Christian Ahlmann on Dominator 2000 Z, 1 by Jana Wargers on Limbridge and the deducted elimination of Andre Thieme who fell down off DSP Chakaria). The FEI World Championships in Herning will conclude with the individual jumping medals to be given on Sunday. The final Olympic event of the World Championships - the Eventing - is scheduled for the next month in Pratoni del Vivaro, Italy. Photo: FEI / Richard Juilliart
  4. The victory of the hosts brought the team event of dressage at the FEI Wrold Championship in Herning to a conclusion. Denmark shared the podium with Great Britain and Germany. Alltogether seven teams secured a place for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Grand Prix have been held for two days with two athletes achieving a result above 80% - Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour on Vamos Amigos (81,864%) and Charlotte Fry on Glamourdale (80,838%). They were the leaders of the teams battling for the gold. The success was on the hosts' side with Nanna Merrald Rasmussen on Blue Hors Zack (76,724%) and Carina Cassøe Krüth on Heiline's Danciera (76,863%) beating the Brits, where Fry was joined by Charlotte Dujardin on Imhotep (77,407%) and Gareth Hughes on Classic Briolinca (75,978%). The podium was completed by the title defending Germans with Ingrid Klimke on Franzikus having their result dropped as the worst in the team (75,683%) the result of 230,791% was achieved by Isabell Werth on DSP Quantaz (77,127%), Bejamin Werndl on Famoso OLD (77,003%) and Frederic Wandres on Duke of Britain FRH (76,661%). Beside the medallists, the three next teams also secured a place in the Paris 2024 Olympic team event (as well as team members starting in the individual competition). These are Sweden, Netherlands (including Dinja van Liere on Hermes - third pair of the Grand Prix with 78,835%) and USA. Another quota went to team of Australia, placed eighth, being the best from the Group G of South East Asia and Oceania with Japan in 15th and New Zealand eliminated as Gaylene Lennard's Jax Johnson haven't passed the inspection and the team had no reserve of their three-pair team. The next medal events are to be held on Monday with dressage Grand Prix Special (individual only) and the non-Olympic vaulting Squad and Individual medals to be given. The next Olympic quotas will be distributed during the jumping team final on Friday the 12th. Author: Wojciech Nowakowski, Totallympics Photo: © FEI/Leanjo de Koster

  8. The Pentathlon Stadium just makes an impression of WOW! I was in Budapest at 2019 WCH - it gives you this WOW, that it's possible to make such a job. From the practical point of view - it's on the same side as Beijing 2008 or Sochi 2014 Opening Ceremonies.
  9. From that point of view it is indeed enjoyable. The thing is - no specific warm-up for specific discipline. Forget about beating the records in swimming. The athletes say the seeding for swimming series according to pentathlon result is also against their performance - when you swim along with people on a similar level, you battle them, when you have such differences you don't really have any reference point. They also say it doesn't look good in TV with such huge difference, but I say it finally shows how swimming is part of pentathlon instead of just a single discipline.
  10. But the Albstadt short doesn't count. The ranking started on Saturday, the short one was on Friday. MTB.xlsx
  11. I was hoping for UCI to prepare an Olympic Ranking as well with their newest update of the World Ranking. But maybe the Totallympians will sum up, how it goes week by week?
  12. Samaranch Jr, Prince Albert II, baron de Coubertin itself...
  13. No, they're not - Samaranch Jr denied this. The IOC just wants a change towards the public. It can be done easily with riding being reformed, but even dropping the riding will not help, if all the competitions are behind a paywall and the TVs who have the TV broadcasting rights are not getting any material, because there is no TV broadcast material - only the UIPM TV is broadcasting. The next thing - IOC wants the athletes in the core of decision making process. The athletes are punished for any protest against dropping the riding - Taishu Sato got a yellow card when he appeared on the fencing piste holding a T-shirt saying "keep riding" - there is no rule he broke. Marek Grycz says the athletes were threatened with exclusion for having such a T-shirt by the Technical Delegate Ágnes Kulcsár - also no rule broken. The obstacle run was already chosen before the UIPM Congress - that's why among the criteria for the new 5th discipline there was a one saying "it cannot be under governance of any IOC recognized organization" - this is something totally different to fencing and swimming (and in some way running and shooting). This brought obstacle run as a favorite - Rob Stull is both, the Americas representative in the Board of World Obstacle and a president of American Confederation of Modern Pentathlon. Also an announcer (or a screamer would be more appropriate word) at most UIPM competitions for almost a decade already. John Helmick, the treasurer of UIPM, said that "they are the athletes" - because most of the UIPM EB members used to compete in pentathlon. That's their way of "athletes in core of decision process".
  14. It seems Poland will open the qualification rankings in two sports. European Triathlon Championships in Olsztyn are to be the first event counted towards the Olympic Ranking while the Gradi Polish Open (Pro Golf Tour event) will be played in the first week counting in the Olympic Golf Ranking.
  15. If I count it correctly (I know, I've never done that correctly before Sochi and PyeongChang) there is only 10 mixed teams qualified and there is a problem with 1000 m men - after reaching the 56 men, the quota should go to but it would be their eighth, so it should give them the 5th athlete and exceed the 56 maximum. So does it go to the next non-colliding (China and Italy) or simply Netherlands doesn't get the fifth athlete, but gets the eighth quota and third in 1000 men. Similar applies to Canada in 1500 men. No problem among women. PS. To be sure - is it the athlete "by name" or "China 1", "Korea 1", "China 2" at each WC stage counting to "China 1" etc. overall?
  16. The atmosphere at the end of the - game was great! Sorry, @heywoodu, this time it's for us.
