  3. here we go... after so many rumors that didn't prove reliable, finally Manny "mr. Nice" Machado signed a record-breaking deal with the San Diego Padres...300 million US $ for 10 years (an opt-out and a partial no-trade clauses included)... this is the largest free agent contract ever in the MLB... https://www.mlb.com/news/manny-machado-deal-with-padres/c-304157722?tid=282421090 https://www.mlb.com/news/largest-contracts-in-mlb-history/c-300060780?tid=282421090 and now, let's see what comes up with the other expected free agent superstar, Bryce Harper (just another "mr. Nice" by himself )... p.s. just 1 day to go to the official opening of the Spring Training...

  6. no, of course...but sometimes the maniac inside me takes the lead and makes me watch more women's events rather than men's (especially when we talk about surfing, beach volleyball)...
  7. for instance, now you might see that I have changed the first post after the semifinals results are known... then, later tonight, I'm gonna post the final results and medal table, changing the original posts once again (whitout having to write them again from 0)...
  8. it's very simple...at that precise moment, there are still 4 people (all those qualified for the semifinals) who could win any medal...so I put their names already into the post at any possible level...and once you know who's in the final, you can let those 2 playing for gold and silver and have the other 2 stuck with the bronze medals... finally, after the end of the competition, I put the right names into their respective spot... it's just a way to keep up with the infos without having to write 3 or 4 different posts with the same names and flags inside (and a way to save some time...I just can't spend all of my day on this forum)...
  9. so, you've been lucky... I watched quite a few WSL women's events in the past couple of years and most times there were very long awaits between one ride and another in the same heat...or just a 20-min of nothing and then all the action in the last 5 mins, which didn't prove too exciting for me... maybe I should start watching men's competitions, too... but, you know, the sport itself it's not the only (nor the main, I fear) reason to watch surf...therefore it's difficult for me to watch the boys instead of the girls...

  13. only if you watch a tape delayed summary... when you watch it live, there's really too much time action-less...you just can't wait 25 minutes to see 2/3 rides per heat... especially when it's 7 or 8 a.m. and still dreamin' of your comfortable bed...
  14. Vladimir Morozov, Canoeing, Olympic Champion in K-4 1000m in 1964 and 1972 and Olympic Champion in K-2 1000m in 1968... Yuri Kovshov, Team Dressage Olympic Champion in 1980 Josif Berdiev, Olympic Champion with the Artistic Gymnastics Team in 1952 Elen Shakirova, member of the "Unified Team", Olympic Champions in 1992 (women's Basketball)
  15. it looks that the Dutch born spiker Dick Kooy could play for Italy in the next future... he got married with an Italian woman and now he just completed all the burocratic tasks to get the Italian citizenship... he also said he would be happy to be part of the Italian team (he's currently playing in Russia, but he did play already in the Italian league -in Modena and Macerata, to be precise- for a few years between 2009 and 2013)...
  16. and she won a less-than-a-minute-run GS with more than a second margin over the Swiss Camille Rast... she and the Slovenian were actually a class apart (but unfortunately for herself, Hrovat DNF)...
  17. no, not at all... our media don't even talk of the Milano+Cortina 2026 bid, just imagine what's the interest for any other news related to the Olympic sports... here in Italy 98% of sports news are about Mauro Icardi, Wanda Nara and the Inter FC saga... 1% is about Atletico Madrid-Juventus... and the last 1% is about Ferrari, Vettel and the Formula1 practice in Barcelona... oh...and last week they spent a few minutes/pages on Valentino Rossi, as it was his 40th birthday (so, as you might imagine, they didn't even talk that much of his sports career, but it was almost only about gossip)... as usual, except for the only 2/3 normal sports websites, there's no place for anything else...
  18. they're really trying every possible sh*tty trick to make the love story between myself and the Olympic Games end...in a tragic way, too...
