  1. Eiduka doing her job. And to think some biathlete didn't want this Latvian relay to happen...
  2. Go Finland! But I am not too convinced by their strategy...
  3. Triple takeout for Krause! Switzerland scores only two stones now instead of five.
  4. Denmark is looking rough... Just the participation is a success, but this is still too disappointing.
  5. Right. Let's try to make this thread more readable again. Rhythm dance today. Perhaps my favorite segment of the entire figure skating. There will be some very enjoyable programs. Go Madison and Evan!
  6. Our team is training with Belgium, so any medal for them is great for us. But then again, is Desmet even a part of the Belgian team these days?
  7. There are many reasons. Biggest of all is that in bobsleigh and skeleton so many athletes switch from another sports. There are countless former decathletes in bobsleigh (including Friedrich, for example). Luge is much more technical and requires athletes to start from very young age to be competitive at the highest level. Having a track is a prerequisite, but technology is key as well.
  8. Not at all. Dressage uses the same system seen in archery and gymnastics, basically. And these are not individual events.
  9. Not surprised to hear that Yun grew sick of skeleton and basically couldn't wait for the Olympics to be over so that he can finally retire. His entire skeleton career has been... circumstantial. There were already strong rumours he would retire after Pyeongchang, but I guess they forced hin to continue riding the wave even though in retrospect it should have been obvious what was bound to happen - Yun burning out.
  10. It was cute hearing Mike and Scott Dixon doing the commentary together. They had some very similar reactions to clean shootings. Top 10 for Moldova! But actually not their best ever result. Levtchenkova was 8th in Torino.
  11. At this point I wouldn't be that surprised if Schizas found her way on the podium tbh.
  12. Meanwhile our flag-bearer Marko Skender placed 85th. It is the worst interval race result ever for Croatia. He fought hard, prepared for months with his daddy coach, but finally managed to beat that pesky long-standing low (79th place from Lillehammer 1994). Goes to show that we will never progress here. Nothing has been done after the amazing 47th and 53rd places in Pyeongchang (out of 120 starters).
  13. Iivo Very much the expected outcome, but still enjoyable. What a result for Ireland. In my book this blows Israel's 6th place in the combined out of the water! He even got that special moment in the comfy chair.
  14. You told them wrong. South Africa doesn't even have a curling team, while GB can't qualify in hockey like Canada did in ski jumping. A more fair comparison would be like Estonia winning a medal in the biathlon mixed relay.
  15. Worked well this morning.
  16. Bleh, so Sadovsky is maybe coming away with a medal despite the Olympic participation that will probably give him nightmares for some time.
  17. Whaaaaat? I was indifferent abiut him, but now I kind of want him to lose.
  18. OBS and ESP commentators are basically fawning over them.
  19. But then lost a bunch of time in the final split. Not that the winner needs to be the fastest at every split, but definitely felt like a faster time could have been posted.
  20. I guess their only real hope is Jackson, provided she stays immune to this American flopping syndrome.
  21. Finally caught up with speed skating. Men's 1500 m race was a definite highlight for me so far. Disappointed that old records are getting broken by hilarious margins. That just continues the recent trend where all WRs and ORs must be held by active athletes. At any cost. But for no particular reason.
  22. She tested positive way back at the Russian Nationals. Almost two months ago. And it very much seems like the RUSADA swept it under the rug whilst only informing Valieva's coaching team and not Valieva herself...
  23. Interesting to hear that Elvedina comes from Visoko. The place with the (highly alleged) Bosnian pyramids.
  24. Is it more cloudy now? Lara's time appears untouchable.
  25. Maybe if she lucks out in the team event? Would be surprising, though.
