  1. Yes I think he is, he is currently 9th. in fact 8th because two Russians are above him. (and we know at least China will be removed from this weight, probably more) on paper it's still possible if bunch of guys lift extraordinary weights in Colombia and surpass him but in reality that's almost impossible. I can say he is 100% safe.
  2. and for women if Toua (49kg) finishes in top 8 which is possible. there is nobody else from Oceania eligible to qualify. there is a girl from Guam but with only 2 events so far she can't complete her 4 events. unless of those 55kg girls cut weight and just participate in Colombia event at 49kg. if nobody from Oceania participates in Colombia event, these guys are going to qualify Yamasaki is leading in two weights but her recent results are at 55kg. 49kg: Toua 55kg: Yamasaki 59kg: Wini 64kg: Elliott 76kg: Signal 87kg: Andrews-Nahu +87kg: Stowers and Hubbard let's see if NZL accepts all these quotas. Hubbard for sure but what about the rest !? -------------- 49kg: 22. Toua - 2603 55kg: 44. Yamasaki - 2015 53. Lifu - 1522 59. Sumagaysay - 1323 59kg: 49. Yamasaki - 2015 51. Wini - 2006 61. Sumagaysay - 1323 63. Lee - 1214 (3 events) 64kg: 36. Elliott - 2546 42. Cochrane - 2300 44. Signal - 2180 72. Abouke - 1265 (4 events but one of them is a zero) 71kg: (no result in Olympic weights) Bakaekiri - 1179 76kg: 30. Signal - 2180 47. Andrews-Nahu - 1643 50. Gorincu - 1584 62. Davies - 1124 (4 events but one of them is a zero) 87kg: 36. Andrews-Nahu - 1643 37. Fassina - 1626 55. Detenamo - 574 +87kg: 12. Stowers - 2225 (most probably in top 8) 17. Hubbard - 1993 18. Sipaia - 1975 19. Amoe Tarrant - 1903
  3. we still don't have the start list for the event in Colombia, but I assume we won't see lots of Oceania athletes there, and since there will be no more event for Oceania athletes, we probably can guess who is going to qualify. none of these guys is registered for the World Juniors. but still nothing is final, for example if Baru just participates at the Colombia event at 67kg he can qualify for the Olympics in that weight because of his 61kg points ! Wakeling is also leading the ranking in both 73 and 81 but he never really participated at 81kg. just registered. so I believe he will participate at 73kg. if nobody from Oceania participates in Colombia event, these guys are going to qualify 61kg: Baru 67kg: Ioane 73kg: Wakeling 81kg: McTaggart 96kg: D. Opeloge 109kg: Lydement +109kg: Liti * weightlifters in bold are 100% safe to qualify (unless their NOC reject the quota) on paper only 61kg and +109kg can qualify in top 8 (very unlikely though) in that case the next athlete from Oceania qualifies. ----------------------------------- and this is the list of all eligible Oceania weightlifters in the men's ranking with a realistic chance to qualify 61kg: 18. Baru - 3001 67kg: 41. Ioane - 2549 44. Katoatau - 2473 60. Moses - 1513 73kg: 46. Wakeling - 2234 48. Tabaroua - 2149 52. Doguape - 1934 61. Aliklik - 1728 81kg: 50. Wakeling - 2234 52. McTaggart - 2133 60. Aliklik - 1728 70. Detudamo - 1434 96kg: 33. D. Opeloge - 3010 63. Baru - 2030 (3 events) 33. Hanai - 1733 (3 events) 102kg: (no result in Olympic weights) D. Katoatau - 1718 109kg: 44. Lydement - 1869 45. Jungblut - 1808 46. Mao - 1754 (4 events but one of them is a zero) 48. Pomelile - 1640 51. Roberts-Young - 1377 (4 events but one of them is a zero) +109kg: 24. Liti - 2797 37. Pomelile - 1640
  4. yes you are right. thanks for correcting me I was wondering why some of them are in green and that was the first thing came to my mind just because I knew few of them are still in the list. I was checking the regulation and those in Green are not going to win a medal. this is just a qualification tournament for them. that's why all athletes in green are in the Olympic list. because otherwise they had no reason to participate here
  5. stat list for the World Junior Championship https://www.iwf.net/e-entry/grid_entry_list/ I assume athletes in Green are still active in the Olympic qualification list. @rybak this is probably surprising for you but Bartlomiej ADAMUS in that world juniors list has a very good chance to qualify for the Olympics. he is currently 34th in the ranking but only 4 weightlifters are between him and the European Quota. and he will surpass all 4 of them if he lifts 371kg (that was his record at the European Championships) actually he only needs 365kg for that. and maybe even 347kg (which is a very very low record) does the job for him if Russia and Albania elect to send different weightlifters (very likely)
  6. I really don't think he is getting weaker. he is still like a tank. as you said that was a huge mistake wrestling at the European Championships so close to this competition. I think most wrestlers who participated at the Europeans failed here. I would consider him as the 3rd dangerous opponent (only behind RUS and ARM) for our wrestler in this weight if he could make it to Tokyo. he just made a mistake against Finland (who is also a very good wrestler, 4th in my list) and tried a wrong tactic here. and I have to mention he had to fight really hard in his first 2 matches that probably also took most of his energy. in short, he was just unlucky (and also made some mistakes) he will be a serious medal contender for the World Championships in Norway.
  7. very impressive quota for Kuosmanen yes he won his QF and SF both 1-1. but I don't think that was intentional. impressive because he was probably 30kg lighter than his opponents. I have to repeat again that he is a 97kg wrestler but since Finland already qualified Savolainen in that weight he had no other option to try his chance at 130kg. this is interesting that both talented Finnish wrestlers are in the same weight !
  8. Omarov should give half of his quotas to him ! he cleaned the way for Omarov by beating Hrabovik and Noumonvi. I think Omarov couldn't beat these guys.
  9. well that doesn't always work. he was sure about his defense but then the Hungarian turned him twice. Kakhaleshvili was strong enough to attack from the start and maybe score something from the standing position but he tried the "dirty tactic"
  10. lol Kakhelasvili is using the same tactic.
  11. I saw it again and it was actually 1 second after the end. you could see he received a warning from the ref. they usually don't just warn you for these kind of actions. they give caution and 2pts. he was the better wrestler and deserved the quota. no need to humiliate your opponent
  12. If it wasn't in Bulgaria, they could easily punish Mnatsakanian with 2pts and caution for that stupid throw after the whistle.
  13. yes in high level matches it's just too hard to score from the standing position. it happens but probably in 50% of the matches. of course I mean an extra time without passivity caution. let them wrestle until someone scores. by a pushout or anything else. if they can't score, make the circle smaller. at least someone has to score for the win. current rule is like using the coin toss or probably worse because sometimes it punishes the more active wrestler. that's why in that specific match both of them wanted to be more "passive" at the start
  14. not that today wasn't great already and it seems you were underestimating Alizadeh, she used to be great and it seems she still has it. she has height advantage over anybody in this weight even though since she probably cuts weight a lot she gets tired soon.
  15. well. there are so many "why"s about UWW and its rules. personally I support having extra time for any tied score. but they don't want matches to last forever. (like Judo) some people suggest having a smaller circle for the extra time making it easier to score the pushout. I will post the match later (when it's available) that was ugly.
  16. I hate it when a match finishes 1-1. I said that so many times already and Alizadeh can't complain about anything since he won his previous match 1-1. he deserved to lose and I'm not even surprised. that was a terrible idea to send him here. we had at least 3 guys better him at home but that happens when instagram pages etc pick wrestlers for the team. just because this guy beat some random wrestlers at the Asian Championships in a low level. but UWW officials are probably the stupidest people on the planet, they are making the wrestlers passive with these rules. if you watch that match, both wrestlers were EXTREMELY passive in the first period. intentionally why ? because they wanted to receive the first caution. they weren't even touching each other. Alizadeh changed gear in the 2nd period since he was losing but when you waste 3 minutes of time to tire your opponent out you deserve to lose. but Datunashvili also deserves shit for that ugly strategy. he won that match by being "passive"! if that was up to me I would disqualify both of them
  17. I was expecting Sahakyan to qualify in Hungary and then again here but both times he lost in the first round! complete disaster
  18. pity I wanted to ask you for her number and I don't think Dimitrov is hopeless against Chunayev. the dancing Azeri is not in a great shape. if Dimitrov survives his early storm he will have his chance later.
  19. and from what I saw so far he is favorite against both of them. Alizadeh sucks big time. beat Japan only 1-1 by pure luck. that was a huge mistake sending him here. and in a fair world Chakvetadze should lose 3-3 to Sunil Kumar. that "step out" point could be 2pts and caution if he wasn't from Russia. he was dead tired near the end of the match.
  20. I'm going to miss that lady's voice on the speaker btw only in this sport the 1st seed can be considered a very easy opponent
  21. only that "Gam-Jeom" (caution) part matters from the bottom left and right. you are disqualified with 10 of them those in the left (for red) and right ( for blue) is the recent actions of the match, (for example FRA scored so many back to back body kicks) and those numbers in the bottom, are "probably" the number of kicks (valid or invalid) that comes handy if the score is tied in extra time.
  22. World and Olympic Champion Kim Hyeon-Woo is now disqualified. not making weight or simply not attending the weigh-in. that makes the life a bit easier for Viktor Nemes
  23. maybe people (including myself) overlook Stetic (BIH) simply because she is from Bosnia. but I just remembered she is Croat and she used to be "good" she will face Alizadeh in the QF if both manage to win the 1st match. interestingly they faced each other 4 years ago in the World Championships quarterfinal. at the time it was Iran vs Croatia. now it's Bosnia vs "that" team. before Alizadeh took that revolutionary decision. she was supposed to move up to 67kg and try her chance in that weight in Tokyo (but she got injured again and our coach crossed her name) this is interesting and surprising that she decided to cut weight again for 57kg!
  24. Venezuela had almost the same team as 2016. they are just 4 years older and weaker. they probably didn't invest much to find new talents and improve their level. sending exactly the same team after 4-5 years is a very bad sign for that sport. since Venezuela's case was interesting, I went to check Iran's 2016 team. out of 12 wrestlers we had in Rio, 10 of them are retired or completely out of the picture. (I mean still active but not in top 5 in the country) and one of them has a very slim chance to make it again. which means most probably only 1 out of 12 wrestlers (our only wrestling gold medalist in 2016) will come back to make the team again in 2021. this is more or less the same for Russia and other wrestling nations. you can't count on a closed group of wrestlers for a long time.
