  1. well sometimes. maybe not this much but there are always few withdrawals. I think one team per sport is quite normal but this time basketball beat the rest in term of withdrawals mostly because OCA doesn't really ban or punish the teams because of late withdrawals. they always threaten to do that though I would like to see some qualifications at least for team sport but then OCA doesn't like the idea. they want to give chances to weaker countries to participate. in some countries they only get financial support when it comes to the Olympics or AG. that's why for example you rarely see Mongolia or Maldives in Asian Championships but they usually send few teams to the Asian Games.
  2. Thailand even played in World Championship not so long ago. they were supposed to be better than this but yeah that was a low level match. still better than Indonesia-Malaysia match
  3. UAE withdrew. only two teams left in this group which means Iran and Syria are already in quarterfinal ! not a good news I'm quite sure our coach would prefer playing more games before the knockout rounds. and this is funny we were supposed to have Phippines, UAE and Syria in our group. Philippines withdrew but later came back. and since two other teams from group D withdrew as well they sent the Philippines to that group and now group B is left with only two teams ! which means one team between Philippines, China or Korea will get eliminated before the semifinal.
  4. I was watching Hungary-Macedonia match and at 12-12 in 5th set , after a good serve from Hungary the ball went to Hungarian side and they spiked it easily but a Macedonian player intentionally pulled the net made referees to believe that was a net touch from Hungary and gave that very important point to Macedonia. that was really disgusting some players/teams have no shame. Macedonia is nothing in volleyball and I hope they remain nothing with such disgusting players. looks like we really need video challenge to stop this kind of cheating.
  5. nope. maybe he is becoming another Ilyin ! as we could see Ilyin only few times in an Olympic cycle, only Olympics, Asian Games and once or twice in the World Championships. but from what I heard he was injured last year. no judgement from myself I like him personally
  6. and if Kazakhstan wasn't banned we would see Ilya Ilyin and another high quality Kazakh guy as well. you don't see high quality competitions in Asia in heavier weights that much. but the funny thing is despite quality competition in this weight I expect our 94kg guy Moradi to beat all of 105kg weightlifters he is lifting some crazy numbers recently. breaking world record everyday for the breakfast only Nurudinov is probably capable of lifting more than him. even though we didn't see Nurudinov after his gold medal in Rio. we don't know if he is in a good shape or not.
  7. now we know why China registered in weightlifting https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1068823/chinas-weightlifters-hope-iwf-will-allow-them-to-compete-at-asian-games-despite-year-long-ban even if they clear China to participate there are still questions about their " whereabouts" as mentioned in the article. in weightlifting you can't just jump in and participate. they have to test you for few months prior to the competition. this will be ridiculous they let China to participate but knowing IWF that most probably will happen. this will affect our gold medal chances directly 85kg gold medal is 100% gone with Tian Tao. even though I doubt still anybody can touch our possible gold medals at 94 and +105. and there will be a hell of a competition for 105kg with Yang Zhe , Olympic champion Nurudinov, the other Uzbek guys and two Iranian weightlifters , including the current World Champion Hashemi.
  8. nope. still wrong for me. I noticed that yesterday. I think the official website tries to adjust the timing with each user's time zone . that's why they are making such a mess.
  9. watching Iran-Malaysia match in handball. after few minutes Malaysian coach changed their tactic and their master plan is to keep the ball as long as possible, killing the time to avoid the heavy scoreline.
  10. The official website. I still hope for a miracle to see a better version when the competition officially starts. no PDF section. for example in basketball results you only can see the number of points scored for each players. to know the number of assists rebounds. percentages etc you have to click on every single player. I never saw such thing for a basketball report. and that was just an example. or if someone from China wanted to know which Chinese athletes are going to compete tomorrow. he has to check every single single link for each sport because there is no NOC section.
  11. They won a bronze medal in 2007 SEA Games . maybe first ever competitive match for this group of players though. that was a very entertaining match, you never see such things in a normal handball match
  12. was that a record ? is even possible to have a more one-sided scoreline ? If I'm not wrong I was checking on some of those Maldives girls and some of them were even in their national basketball team Indonesia women's team once lost 73-2 to North Korean back in 2012. so maybe they have the potential to set a new record. their men's team is probably a bit better. when Qatar hosted the Games back in 2006 they didn't participate in some of team sports like Baseball and Kabaddi, maybe the host nation should not compete in all sports when the sport almost doesn't exist there.
  13. I don't think that sattelite is available here. I have to check if there is enough sport channels on Arabsat . I want to make some changes but I'm just not sure which sattelite has more sport channels specially for the AG. Hotbird is easy to get here. unlike Nilesat I used to even have nilesat but then some of our neighbors decided to build big buildings and then ...
  14. Is that still on Arabsat ? I know it used to be but I didn't have that for a while , so I'm not sure. Nilesat is a bit hard to access because of some big building next to our place it's always good to have so many options for Olympics/AG, I already know Iranian channels won't show much of events without any Iranian athletes involved.
  15. I knew Handball is not popular in Indonesia and they even wanted to drop Handball from the competition but I wonder if Handball even exists in Indonesia ?! I mean even in amateur level. because you must be VERY bad to lose 40-17 to Hong Kong !! Hong Kong itself will get massacred by better teams here. that KSA-INA match will be very ugly. prepare for something like 70-2 scoreline ! unless Saudis show mercy and Qatar also beat Malaysia 64-16 and unlike what our coach thinks. Qataris bring everything they have to Indonesia to win the gold. they have have their legendary GK Saric here ! so it will be incomplete Iran vs a very complete Qatar ! I just hope they don't get humiliated. even though finishing 2nd in group isn't that bad next round we will be in the same group with Hong Kong, Bahrain and the winner of KOR-JPN match. we need one big win to enter the semifinal. Asian Handball is very predictable. there are 7 teams much much better than the rest. (and Qatar much better than anybody else ) and now 6 with Kuwait being suspended. out of the favorites for medal looks like the only team missing key players is Iran we have so many players in 2nd/3rd tier European leagues and unfortunately their clubs didn't release them for the competition. they were supposed to join the team in middle of the 2nd round but our coach decided to not use them at all thinking this is not "fair" for other players.
  16. unlikely through the ranking. but he will have his chance in European qualifiers. here he lost to the eventual gold medalist from Korea.
  17. yeah since the 2nd period he was telling to his coach something like things like this "coach I can't walk. I can't even stand" they told him to withdraw if he can't but he told them he wants to finish this . well the curse of not winning gold in GP events continues ! even though I accept the fact we are not a powerhouse in Taekwondo anymore but like other Asian countries (specially Korea) we saved our A team for the Asian Games. even though there were 3 world championship medalists in this team. so still something like A team. so no excuse not winning a single gold. funny note. if we don't consider this as a defeat. the other 4 Iranian athletes lost to Russia !
  18. Wrong. Chung is already an Asian Games gold medalist. he is here because his country wants more gold medals. but yeah everybody knows about Son's military service story. it's just impossible to gather best football teams for such competition at this time of the year. obviously there should be other reasons involved. even about Son. he is coming only because his country cares A LOT about one more gold in football. otherwise they should not even use averaged players which gives that option to Son. as I said before some countries use their U21 squad here preparing for the Olympic qualifiers.
  19. yeah and that was great coverage but I said the main Asian Games. nobody really follows the AIMAG. but Asian Games is something different. no free streaming anymore ! most Asian countries care A LOT about this. you can see Korea even bring Son Heung-min or their Tennis star Chung Hyeon to the competition. btw even though I didn't like all those "fake" fans in stadium in Turkmenistan but they were a much better host than Indonesia. I hope Indonesia proves me wrong when the competition officially starts.
  20. OCA usually doesn't allow the official website having live stream for the main Asian Games. or at least I can't remember such things. Qatari channels (Alkass and Al Jazeera which is now bein sport) have a history of monopolizing the broadcasting rights for the AG
  21. indeed I am but I think all of us here more or less have the same addiction. just in different ways
  22. and in case you didn't believe me ! here we have Diving 3m Springboard results Men's 3m Springboard.pdf
  23. Yes. but 2010 AG also didn't have pdf official results. I still I saved the html page for every single event.
  24. by all competitions I don't mean really "all competitions" ! that's simply impossible. I mean all OCA/IOC multisport events.
  25. I don't remember 2000 Olympics website but 2004 Athens Olympics website was definitely better than this ! I still hope they improve and change it big time when the official competition starts. (too much to ask , no ?) I mean so far no PDF report section which is unbelievable ! I keep all PDF results from all competitions since I remember . I don't want to miss this one.
